5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, feel-good witchy romance

Witchy?✔️ Queer?✔️ Romance?✔️
All my favorite things! Hands down one of my favorite reads last year, I loved it. Such a fun, cozy feel good read. No *extreme* drama or tension, just a perfect sprinkle to keep things interesting, give substance to the plot, and give the characters something to grow from. The idyllic whimsy of Thistle Grove is spun like the loveliest daydream that makes me want to immediately pack up and move there and never leave.

Emmy’s love, even if initially reluctant, for her hometown is tangible and infectious. I very much look forward to returning in future re-reads and am SO happy there is another Thistle Grove adventure in the works because I definitely need more of this world!

I enjoy reading this! The whole witches and magic town part are brilliant. I especially love how Harper described the town in detail, the color tone, etc. It’s like I’m traveling there, and I even know what it smells like! Harper is an incredible storyteller.

The romance part is the one I’m disappointed about. Both Emmy and Natalia are charming individuals, but I don’t feel the chemistry between them. I have no idea how or when Natalia fell for Emmy, I was hoping there would be a reveal or confession, but in the end, I still have so many questions. Emmy, on the other hand, left her hometown at seventeen for nine years, and the reasons she left and was angry about for nine years seems really weak to me. One thing that bothers me a lot is that Emmy and her friends are around 26-28 years old, but they talk and act more like 16-18 years old. They even argue like a teenager. It’s really hard for me to connect with the characters. So overall, I’d give 3.5 stars

The storyline has potential. The writing is not my cup of tea. I tried to push through, but made it halfway before I gave up. Someone compared it to the Triwizard tournament meets Beautiful Creatures and I think that’s a fair assessment. This is an LGBTQ friendly love story for anyone looking for magic and love.

4.0 out of 5 stars silly fun read!
Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2023
I went into this book with absolutely no expectations and it was a silly fun read that’s a mix of Harry Potter tri wizard tournament and the movie John Tucket Must Die. Three witches team up to take down their cheating a hole ex when the families come together for their once a decade magical games.

It’s such a fun spooky season read. I also enjoyed the writing style a lot. Full of imagery that fills the senses. The MCs have great chemistry and I enjoyed that it was two bi women and didn’t need a lot of explanation for this choice. But the best was the fun magical games.

Overall if you’re looking for a light fluffy read about witches then this is it. If you’re expecting your latest angsty plot driven book then look elsewhere.

… and Emmy Harlow comes to deserve. Not just vindication and pride, but genuine appreciation for herself and her home. And with a happy expectation of more adventure and discovery to come! Emmy isn’t settling down, she’s rooted to grow in ways both real and magical.

This was very cute and cozy! It was a finding yourself and romance. Definitely a modern day 90's Sabrina. Looking forward to finishing the series.

I haven't read the book yet, but the edges are scuffed up and looks like a used book. Regardless, im excited to read it, but I would have liked a discount or something because of the condition.
