5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING! Wish I could rate 9000 stars!

My 12 year old son loves this tablet. (He bought it with his own money) He can freely play Minecraft, (one of his favorite games) with no lag, no matter which world he uses. He would easily get frustrated when his old tablet, lagged when he played on it. The tablet build-up itself is absolutely mesmerizing, it is slim, with a huge screen. HD is an understatement, due to the bright and vibrant coloring. The animations, along with the speed of the tablet, are very smooth and fast.
My son just LOVES this tablet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Tablet for the Price

I just checked and found that this 10" tablet is my 11th Kindle Fire tablet since 2011, so you may say I'm a fan! My husband gets my hand-me-downs, and since had I just bought a new 10" tablet back in February (ocean), he now gets that one and I get the new one (lilac). So we're both happy. We mostly use our tablets for reading, and for that purpose, they work great. This 10-inch tablet is a nice size, not too heavy for reading or browsing the internet. Overall, it is a nice looking tablet at a good price and does what I need it to do. That being said, there are some limitations:

1) I'm not much of a gamer, but some years back, I got a few games for free on a Black Friday sale and enjoyed playing them. I also downloaded another game that is free to play. All three of these games worked great until I got to end-game. I then had problems with the game slowing down and even freezing to the point where I was unable to play them to the finish. I tried adding extra storage, even going so far as buying a newer tablet, but ultimately realized that it was a RAM issue. It's disappointing to me that games would be sold in the Amazon Appstore when the RAM on the tablet wouldn't be able to support the demands of the game. There is an upside: I stopped playing them and now have more time to read, yay!

2) Even though my tablet is new, it is becoming more and more apparent that Amazon is no longer supporting some of its own apps. These apps are no longer working (although the sites themselves can still be accessed using the Silk Browser): Goodreads, which Amazon owns, so this is really a mystery, especially because so many people do use their tablets for reading; and both the Shop Amazon and the Photos app now take you to the Silk Browser, where you need to sign in each time to access. In the case of the Photos app, it seems to have been replaced with the new Gallery app, but as of this date, Gallery is extremely limited in function. To use a new photo wallpaper, for example, I had to click on the Photos app, sign in, find and download locally the picture I wanted to use, and only then could the innate wallpaper chooser "see" the photo, which was also then available in Gallery. Whew! Prior to this change, the wallpaper could be easily changed in one step, as Amazon Photos was one of the choices, along with the built-in wallpapers, and you could scroll and select a photo as desired.

If you're not an end-gamer or don't really need or rely on the built-in Amazon apps, you'll be fine, as this is still a more than decent tablet for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Keep Buying Kindle Tablets! Incredibly Versatile!

I have a herd of Kindle Fire Tablets from over the years. I think I buy at least one new one every 2 years, if not yearly. The price is right, especially during Prime Day or Black Friday sales, so why not? The "old" ones then become upgrades for my parent's tablets -- or they get used as a touch-screen interface to a music system or home automation system, or they upgrade the *really* old ones that eventually become too slow or are no longer supported. I have a few tablets I designate for use when I'm outside grilling or partying and don't mind getting beat up a bit.

These 10in tablets are a nice size for when you want a bigger screen. We've used them on Zoom calls with relatives and it's nice not having to listen to the noise of a laptop fan spinning up and down while video conferencing. I've used them with some cloud gaming services and once again, it's awesome not having to hear a fan like you usually would when playing games on a laptop or PC. I've also used these tablets to connect remotely to my desktop. Paired with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard you can essentially use the tablet as a "thin client" to connect to a more powerful PC and the battery lasts a lot longer than a normal laptop battery would. I've used some drawing applications on them too, where even if you just use your finger and pinch-zoom to magnify, you can actually create some pretty nice drawings if you're artistic.

The world of apps and usefulness of Kindle tablets really opens up if you side-load Google Play Store. I like Tinycam for viewing wireless pet cameras, SuperDisplay and EasyCanvas for a lag free display for Windows, Squeezer for remote control of Squeezebox music system, Pinball Arcade for pretty authentic pinball experience, Microsoft Remote Desktop to connect to Windows desktops, NoMachine to connect to Mac Mini lag free, Steam Link & a bluetooth Xbox controller to remote play games from my desktop, Touch Portal (powerful remote macro control deck like Steam Deck), Sketchbook for intuitive drawing, Squid for note taking and brainstorming ideas, SimpleMind for quick mind maps, Engross for todo lists, Habits for easy habit tracking, MyRadar for viewing live weather radar & the list goes on! Again, only after installing Play Store do you open up that world of possibilities, otherwise you are limited to what's on the Amazon App Store. If you're a bit technical it's not hard to figure out.

My wife and I love our Kindle Tablets and this 10in tablet is was the newest member of the group. We've had very few issues with any of the tablets we've bought over the years, aside from some of the normal things that happen after you've installed dozens and dozens of apps and at some point have to wipe the tablet to clear it out and speed it up. But no hardware issues to speak of really. They've just "worked" and have been pretty rock-solid. Unless they become more expensive, or quality changes, we'll continue buying Kindle tablets in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great device for the money

Have bought and used several generations of Fire tablets and Kindle Paperwhite readers. The Fire tablets have always had good screen performance. The speed and storage haven been good. However, the screen on my last Fire tablet failed after the warranty. I returned the device and used a credit to purchase a new one; the one I presently use. So far, very pleased with it's quality and performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!

This is my first new Kindle in about 3 years and I love it! Larger, but somehow not really heavier. Fabulous, bright display, movies look amazing. Easy to hold for reading and I LOVE that they changed back to regular book orientation from the annoying opposite opening of my previous one that I never really adjusted to. Sleek design, love the ocean blue, Very happy that the system simply migrated all my apps over from the old one, super easy. I still had to sign in everything with passwords, but no worries. I can see myself using this more as a small laptop too, which was never a great option with the smaller one. So, well done, Amazon! Well done!
