5.0 out of 5 stars Boosts signal in the basement - full strength
Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2024
This Signal Booster works really well. It was east to set up with the instructions. We did need to run through the instructions a few times until we made it work correctly. We haven't had any issues with it since our purchase and we are using it for Wi-Fi boosting in our basement. It finds the Wi-Fi from our main floor and allows us a full signal in the basement.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly disappointing

The extender arrived in good time and in decent shape. Instructions were pretty clear and easy enough to follow. I had high hopes...but they were quickly dashed.
Living in the country, our internet speeds don't come close to matching fiber or cable reception. We have to depend on wireless reception. We are very lucky that our current provider's speeds run between 125 and 230 mbps download (sometimes even faster), depending on band-width congestion on our closest tower (actual measurements using Ookla Speedtest as well as two others). We aren't "gamers", so the speed aspect is just fine for our uses, but there are a couple areas in the house that have weaker signal strength that I had hoped to improve. Moving the router isn't an option due to provider signal strength reception considerations. I know an extender only boosts strength and not speed and that there is often a little speed loss compared to the router when connected to the extender, but averaging a speed of only 23 mbps during setup only 8 feet away from the router is ridiculous! A speed test run directly through the router at the same time averaged 177 mbps. Speed didn't really get any worse when I moved the extender to a central location and then tried testing those areas that had weak signals, but signal strength was somewhat better, with speed still a glaring problem (average of 102 mbps through router and 20 mbps through the extender). Losing that kind of speed is totally unacceptable.
I will regretfully be returning this extender and just learn to live with what I have.
By the way, if you rely on the various reviews for this product - be aware that a great many of them aren't even for the extender. Instead, they are for various DVD movies (most notably The Silence of the Lambs). That might be a reflection of the lack of care in manufacturing and promoting the extenders!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!

The extender acts like a hot spot. It receives the WiFi and creates its own WiFi signal, so you can use either. I was able to set it up less than 5 minutes. I was having trouble getting my new wireless printer to print wirelessly. It would connect to my phone and my laptop but never print. I ended up bringing my priter downstairs and set it up next to my router and it finally worked. So I ended up getting this extender to see if I could use my printer in my office, instead of having it in my living room. Once we got it set up, I tested out my printer and it prints. It performs as expected . I can now use my printer in a room I couldn't use it in previously. It doesn't affect anything else in our house. All other devices are still connected to the main router and only the printer is connected to the extender. Happy with this item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic extender

Range is limited. Line of sight is needed. I needed a signal to the basement. The extender is on the first floor right above the basement room where the signal is needed. I don't know how many devices can handle. I have only one device to connect.

3.0 out of 5 stars I probably expected too much with this.

I have an extender as I camp out in my back yard. I have done this for years - I love being outside in my tent. Using fast.com I found that my current extender only gives me 9.8 Mbps - which is extremely low. I borrow a hotspot from the library every chance I can .. and that gives me 34 -42 Mbps. Well, I haven't been able to get a hotspot due to so many other patrons renting them from the library .. so I chose this extender / repeater to see if it would boost the performance .. well.. when I checked several times over the course of the day .. the average was 1.8 Mbps from the same position I keep the other extender. I sent it back .. it did not improve anything .. So I did return it .. I am going to give my Internet provider a call to see what can be done.

I bought this to put next to my kid’s room, he complained about the Internet not reaching well. He’s not had any issues since it was connected. Plugs in and stays connected. It was easy to set up and works as expected.

Trying to boost my network, I did not see this particular item to be helpful. It’s a little late to send it back, but I have disconnected it and it goes into the pile of electronics that I’m not using anymore.

    1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t bother

We have a sizable property, two floors, about 3200sq ft, 1.5acres and a notorious dead spot on West side of house furthest from main router. Liked the price, reviews seemed good but now seem planted. 1) Bought two to cover whole house and hopefully get some coverage on our outbuildings as a bonus but not required 2) Never bothered with outbuildings because after setting up on either 2.4 or 5G takes our 500mbs/fiber speed down to under 10 mbs. 3) The manual explicitly details a situation where I’m sure people complained about speed loss but as you read their wording they talk about it being an extender - not a speed enhancer, right, but also shouldn’t be a 98% speed DECREASER either! Since I bought two I could run the test on both and in different locations, even 5ft away from the main router get the same results - 500+ mbs will guarantee drop below 10mbs. I would have been happy if it kept things in the 100’s, maybe 200’s and maybe get double digits in out buildings but under 10ths coming off 500?? Please - 1 star because who wants an internet speed reducer? Perhaps folks going from NO speed to 10? But consider if you’re not starting out with 500mbs like I am, reduce whatever you have by 98% and there you go - so those of you with 150mbs, expect about a 2.6mbs max speed and I’m old enough to know that’s even slower than dial-up in a developing nation, in the early 2000’s. Pass, these will be returned and my search for long-range, 2024 speed levels continues.
