Added this stereo to my 71 Jeep Cj5 over the winter. It works well. I bought because it says it is waterproof even though I don't plan on getting it wet you never know if you will get caught in a rain storm with top down. Easy to pair to bluetooth, removable faceplate so if top is off on jeep can remove it so it doesn't get stolen. Overall no complaints had it in jeep for 4 months now and works great!

I ordered this unit to replace the worn our non-functioning unit in my old 1996 HD FLH; figuring that if I didn't like it, I could always return it. It was definitely inexpensive and I didn't really expect much. I mainly wanted BT and USB connectivity. I was not concerned about retaining handlebar controls.
I removed the front fairing and disconnected the two plugs that are part of the stock radio setup. Then I pulled the radio and connected the wiring that came with the Boss unit. Get a wiring diagram for the HD radio to make the appropriate connections. It's not difficult.
I got it all connected (threw some new inexpensive new speakers in for good measure) and turned it on. Not everything worked. I couldn't change the FM stations; remote wouldn't work, etc. however, BT, USB, and accessory plug worked fine. I was stunned by the sound quality much better than I expected.
So, I called Boss customer service technical support. I expected to be on hold for hours and end up talking to someone that could barely speak English and not know what the heck they were talking about. Well, I was dead wrong. Two rings and i had Chris from tech support,, who speaks English better than me and definitely new his business!
He arranged to have a replacement unit sent to me, immediately. All I had to do is replace the unit and leave all of the wiring in place and return the defective unit in a prepaid UPS box.
I'm impressed and will use Boss products in the future, due to this experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Check for Shorted Wires FIRST..!

Having a Issue with my 98 Dodge Ram, I first connected the Boss Stereo to all Speakers, No AMP, NO Power Antenna Used in my Installation..!
Stereo turned on and plays music Just Fine at first, turn the Stereo Off either by Ignition Key or Fob, turn back on, NO SOUND..! and it didn't matter how many times I turned the Stereo Off and On, No Sound..!
I called Boss Stereo Tech Support, the guy said The Internal Amp has a Safety Feature to TURN OFF if there is any Fault within your Factory Speaker Wires..
Tech Support said to Test One Speaker at a time until I find the Cause of the Problem, so I did,,
I Disconnected ALL Speakers, only Wiring one at a time.. Turned out the Left Front FACTORY Speaker Wires had a Short, It would play Music by connecting "ONLY" the Negative Speaker Wire (No Positive Connected).. There was my Problem all Along..!!
None of the other 3 Speakers had this Behavior, Both Negative and Positive Speaker wires has to be connected to Play Music with the other 3..
So the guy from BOSS Stereo Tech Support was Correct,, I replaced the Left Speaker Wire, and Everything is Perfect Now..!
98 Dodge Ram Trucks have a Choke Relay Setup (Noise Reduction) within the Factory Wiring Harness, This was NOT Connected at all, when I replaced the Factory Stereo with a Pioneer Years ago. And I Replaced the Factory Speakers with Pioneer Speakers also, so that Choke Relay was Never Powered on with my Pioneer Setup..! However I would Sometimes get Squealing out of the Speakers if I turned the Volume to High with the Pioneer Setup..!
Further more There is NO WAY on Earth to get to that Choke Relay without ripping the Entire Dash apart to Disconnect it, but there is NO Power being Supplied to the Choke Relay to begin with, so the Conclusion is, the Speaker Wires are being Shorted by the Choke Relay..! My Personal Best Guess,,!
Never the Less, REPLACE Speaker Wires if you Encounter Any Issues such as I did, if a Speaker will Not Produce Sound, and/or Produces sound by connecting ONLY the Negative Speaker Wire, and/or the Boss Stereo Stops Producing Sound to All the Speakers.!!
My only Disappointed is, the Pre-set Equalizer Options,, they SUCK..!
It plays Much Better Sound quality with Equalizer Turned Off.. I would Wish they would Incorporated Manually Controlled Equalizer is this Stereo System,, PLUS a Slot for a SD Card would be Great Too..!

Nice radio. But do not buy if you want to use handle bar controls on motorcycle. Wouldn't work on my road glide. Got lucky and friend of mine bought it and used on his older bike
