5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Calming, and Fun!

The detail put into each breed and species of fish is stunning. With the paid version i am able to get more fish and multiple backgrounds. Because this app has many options that are able to be turned off, it helps when i need to save energy. When I can use unlimited energy the various options are beautiful and entertaining. Being able to interact with the fish in different ways adds to my enjoyment of this app. Try it free first and see if you enjoy it as much as i do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bugged- IF Installed to SD card
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2011
No matter how many times I go and change the fish types, the initial defaults keep overwriting my selection. Go to fishkeeping and select fish, new fish show in preview, then when you click Set Wallpaper, it goes back to the default fish. The extra fish I add remain, it's just the initial default fish can't be exchanged. The wallpaper itself looks pretty nice though some additional backgrounds would be nice a there's only 4 to choose from.

    Edit:
The bug with fishkeeping only seems to effect this app if it's installed to the SD card. I moved it back to the phone and the problem seemed to go away. Upgraded review to 4 stars. Moving to phone memory also fixed another issue I had where the wallpaper would default back to the stock wallpaper when phone was shut off. If anyone else has these issues, hopefully this edit will help.

I'm very pleased to have gotten this app for free. Amazon is doing a great job with the free offerings as far as I am concerned.

I love the app and am not disappointed at all. The fish do have animations, it's just not blatantly obvious with the small size of a phone's screen. I can easily see how this would be much more awesome on the larger screen of a tablet and a larger screen would be better to evaluate the animations. One reviewer mentioned another app that has sun rays, leaving the impression this app doesn't, which isn't correct. There are flickering sun rays throughout the water on this app.

There is a setting where the user can select their own background, so if you have Zedge you can check there for underwater backgrounds, or through whatever app you may have to select other backgrounds.

I've given it a 5 star rating because I really like how it looks on my DroidX, the wonderful selection of fish that can be used and the ability to choose another background, if wanted. I haven't had the app long enough to fully judge battery drain but as of now checking battery usage, it is only responsible for 5%. I think any live wallpaper is going to contribute to faster battery drain, which is why I use them for my entertainment but switch to a normal wallpaper if I'm in a situation where I really want, or need, to maximize battery life.

This app was very neat to have but unfortunately it only worked for a few days. Then it started to stall or freeze or not even load and defaulted back to the original wallpaper. Uninstalled :-( Optiums T

This live wallpaper has some poor animations. The fish move across the screen but none of them have moved their tails at all. The only reason I know they're not dead is because they're travelling horizontally. I have found a better aquarium wallpaper previous to using this one from Kittehface Software. Not sure if you can find it on Amazon's market, but it's on the Android market and it's much better for animations. It has realistic bubbles and sun rays for effect and the fish look alive. No, I have no affiliations with Kittehface Software so don't bother asking.

    Phone:
    Droid X(Android 2.2.1)

    Pros
As far as live wallpapers goes, this is actually pretty nice. Lots of settings. Literally 100s of fish to choose from, could probably emulate your own aquarium. Tons of options as far as the size, variation, growth, and background picture(can choose from your own pictures). Can even put it on fish feeding mode, where the fish die if you don't tap the screen occasionally to feed them lol. Works well, really.

    Cons:
Kind of more of a novelty, like any live wallpapers are. I can't imagine keeping one on my phone 24/7, just because of the extra system power(battery, memory, etc) they eat up. Phone is definitely a little laggier when this is on, not much though. Animations could use a little more variation, but the sheer number of fish does kind of make up for that. Looks a little too flat as well.

    Should you buy?
    Today, yes. Tomorrow, meh.

It really is a pretty decent livewallpaper, but at the end of the day it's still just wallpaper. A little flat, and after awhile got boring to look at. If fish is your thing, i'm sure you'd love having this on your phone though, enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars Has its issues but still worth 5 stars

Yes, this is a battery drain. All smartphones have terrible battery life, anyway, so I carry extra batteries, chargers, or buy extended batteries. It's worth it to me.

I love this app mostly because of my nephews. I have 3 who are 2, 3, and 5. As infants, they enjoy just watching. The 5 y/o likes to touch the fish and watch them swim away and he tries to feed them.

I enjoy it myself, as well. It's very calming. It's fun to watch the fish get larger and larger and also you can mix and match the fish so that it's never the same.

The only negative is that if you try to touch or feed the fish, often times you unintentionally touch and open apps which gets annoying. To prevent this, I just leave one of the extra home screens on my Droid phones empty to use just as the "fish tank."

I don't use this wallpaper all the time. Sometimes I switch to it just for my boys when I see them and they get bored. Regardless, this is a 5 star app to me and I also have purchased other fish apps:
