One complaint. Because the new Bluetooth display goes in 0.1 increments (e.g. 64.9, 65.0, 65.1), the fans tend to rev up and down several times before settling in and remaining on. This makes it kind of distracting and often wakes me up because it goes up and down before remaining on. Other than that still a tremendous value. Maybe the makers can release a firmware update that has the temperature going in straight number increments instead of 0.1 increments.

(Update 06/14/2024)
As of this date, they still can't vouch highly enough for this type of product. Through the winter it kept my rooms warmer where needed, and during the warm months kept my rooms on the second floor much cooler than without it. I recently purchased another one a couple of days ago because it had a 25% discount. I actually ended up getting a different model that actually incorporates Bluetooth and an app. That just made the value of this product jump up quite a bit. It's model AC-RBF4-W. I'm wondering if it's brand new in the model lineup because I can't find documentation on it anywhere, but so far it's been actually really nice having Bluetooth connectivity so that I don't have to go down to floor level to adjust any settings if I wanted to. Plus it's nice to see what the temperature in the room is without having to get out of bed. Super lazy person here lol. Anyway, if you're on the fence, I can honestly say they've been worth it. Still happy with them and ended up buying four more after my initial purchase.

(Original review)
What I like:
1. Works very well
2. Easy to configure
3. The digital display
4. Easy to understand directions
5. Can turn off the display once you've set it up
6. Relatively quiet at lower speeds

What I don't like:
1. It's a little pricier than other brands, but so far it's been worth it.

First and foremost, for those who say the temperature settings either don't work or are backwards, it's just not true. Yes, you very well could have gotten a defective unit, but the vast majority of complaints are unfounded and rooted in ignorance of the function of the product.

It is NOT a thermostat! It has a thermal probe that registers the temperature of the air coming from the vent. Therefore, if you want the product to push cold air during the summer, you want the fans to kick on when the temperature of the air coming from the vent is at or lower than the temperature preference you set. For example, my room routinely got as high as 78°F during the summer, so I set my cooling trigger to 72°, so any air that is that temp or below will be pushed into my room. My room now regularly stays around 72 degrees.

Now the opposite will be true during the winter. My room can get very cold. As low as 55°. That's freezing in the winter time. So I set the heating trigger to, say, 75°. That means any air coming from the vent that is that temp or higher, will turn the fans on to push the warm air into my room, thereby making it warmer quicker.

Hope they helps those who have trouble understanding what the unit does. Just remember, it's NOT a thermostat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected

At about $50, this little fan was a great investment. The programming was confusing at first, but once I figured it out, it's working beautifully. Our office, in a room above our garage, was always colder in winter and warmer in summer, no matter what we did. This room is so far away from our furnace that the airflow is pretty feeble by the time it gets here. By increasing the airflow, this fan is pushing the air that would stay close to the floor around the register further out into the room. So now no chilly or drafty sensation, just nicely moderated temps. It's now almost "too warm"!

The fan speed is fully adjustable, and so is the thermostat that senses the temperature of the air right as it's leaving the register. We set the fan at the middle setting, and it's still nice and quiet. (I was amazed to see how hot the air is at the register opening when the furnace is on - over 100 degrees!) Our furnace's weak airflow didn't move this air out into the room, but the new fan gives it a nice "boost". It's working well for winter, now let's see how it does next summer!

This fan may not work in everyone's situation, but it's ideal for us. Very pleased with this purchase.

My home office is at the far end of the AC venting system so my airflow has always been tiny and does not really help my room. This is specially true in the summer as I have to keep the doors wide open to let AC cool air from the hallway make its way here.

I recently bought and installed the AC Airtap (I call it Tap for short) after seeing a couple of reviews online for it. Installation was an absolute breeze, I took my old register out and put this one in and it fit snugly in the vent. This tells me it is making a good seal in there so any airflow coming in is definitely boosted by the fans.

The physical buttons and screen on the register are easy to handle and operate, however the programming is definitely not intuitive and the user manual is needed to understand the options available. The Tap has a few modes of operation that are mostly self explanatory: OFF, ON, Auto, Timer, Cycle. For my review I am only focusing on Auto as that is the main mode probably most folks are interested in.

The Auto mode configures the register to sense the air temp using the built-in thermostat, and when the temperature falls below or above a certain threshold, the built-in fans kick in. So there is no separate cool setting and hot setting as seen on online videos, it is all now included in the Auto setting so you set a cold air temperature and then a hot air temperature if desired. For example if you live in a place that only needs cold air, you can set the hot air value to something really high so it will not kick/trigger on the "hot" side.

One big thing to keep in mind is the register is in reality running at all times, and it has two modes: by default the fans in the register are running at Min speed, and when air temp desired is detected then the fans switch to Max speed. By setting a Min speed to 0 (zero) the fans are stopped, which is what I was expecting. I had changed the Min/Max speeds to 5/8 respectively thinking it was for fan speed ramping up and I was very puzzled when the register kept turning on the fans even when my AC/heating was off. I have them set now to 0/4 and that works great. Also when the fans kick in around that 4-5 level the noise level is fairly decent, sounding exactly like a PC with fans running at full speed. Higher levels mean higher noise so that's something to keep in mind.

One MAJOR feature not listed or made obvious is the register has built-in Bluetooth capabilities. You download the app and then you can configure the register using your phone. This interface is much better for programming instead of using the onboard buttons and figuring out the ways to change the temps and settings using only 2-3 buttons. Not sure why this is not advertised in the main features of the product and that is something that is a big plus for anyone interested. The app has the ability to track when the register was on-off, how the air temp changed overtime and more statistics that you may find very interesting if you are a tech geek like myself.

Overall, this is a great product and I highly recommend it.
