A quick fun read, with juicy details and heartfelt seriousness sprinkled in

I started listening to Claudia and Jackie's podcast at the start of quarantine. Their podcast, The Morning Toast is the perfect hour long comedic distraction from what can be a stressful day. I was happy to order Claudia's book and support her. I am just about finished and am loving it. It's exactly what you would expect from her. I thought her technique in writing it was clever too. She spoke the book and recorded herself, then later transcribed the pages. That was clever as she wanted her voice to translate to the pages, which it did. Claudia is witty, vulnerable, brave and a real hustler. She shares her rise to stardom and all of the highs and lows that came with it. I definitely recommend this book.

Really beautiful, but something was missing

I love The Morning Toast, I'm an OG Breather, and RTK! I was so excited for Claudia to not only address the cancellation criticism that has continued to follow her ever-growing career, but to be able to point to her book as a reference for anyone who has anything negative to say should this same controversy come up in this future. Such a beautiful, stunning, and smart move to make a dollar off the haters! "You want the whole story, trolls? Buy my book!" But I have to admit I was disappointed by the cancellation chapter. I would never, ever expect someone to denounce their only living parent, or speak ill of a loved one, especially when safety is so much of an issue, however, I do think there's a way to speak to how this conflicting parental relationship has made her feel, without publicly bashing a family member. She took all of the ownership of her cancellation, which I wholeheartedly respect, but so much of it was tied to her mom's beliefs. I expected her to say that she strongly disagrees with the extreme beliefs of her mother, and does not want those ideas tied to the levity and lightness Claudia strives to create. I know she has somewhat said this in the past (she has said on Patreon that she's already said this/addresses this, but even as a fan I don't think I have an exact reference point for this) but this book was the time to finally get it in writing. I can only imagine how strenuous this topic is on her, but it seemed like this was her big moment to set the record straight and make it 100% clear for once and for all. I understand her perspective of not denouncing her mom, and never wanting to come close to doing so, but I think there's a way to state your own beliefs and state how a situation tied to another person makes you feel without attacking someone else's character. I came here to read your thoughts on the subject and felt as though the parts about her mom were tiptoed around and briefly mentioned. I almost wish there was an addendum about this, so I can point to the book to defend Claudia any time a someone brings up the controversy. This was my only gripe with the book (also no mention of Theo, but he was present in photo form!) which was otherwise delightful, funny and well written. I especially loved the chapter on body image and her honesty surrounding the topic, ie, the before/after photos were so refreshing to see! I will forever see things in a new perspective after reading this.

One of the Best Memoirs of the 21st Century

This is Claudia Oshry at her best. She wrote what I would consider is the most self-aware and genuine memoir of the 21st century. Girl With No Job leans into everything that makes Claudia special: her unapologetic humor, her desire to bring laughter and levity into the world, her ability to roll with the punches and make the most of the cards she is dealt, and her fervent loyalty to the people and the life she loves. The ability to laugh alongside her audience is unique to Claudia, and she goes beyond being hysterical by offering refreshingly introspective moments about why she is the way she is. If you’re looking for a book to make you laugh, cry, smile, reflect, and appreciate how a person can be so authentically themselves in a society that often tries to convince people that if they don’t look, act, talk, dress, behave a certain way, that they aren’t valuable, read this book. Claudia is a shining and courageous example of what it means to be who she is to her core, and that person is beautiful, stunning, and smart.

It’s ok
Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2021
It was ok. I finished it and I only skipped chapter 6. I love autobiographies and stories of people who have struggled with hard times, loss, and defeat yet are able to bounce back despite everything... this isn’t really that story. Claudia had been incredibly privileged her entire life. Her cancellation, although surely difficult, lasted a few weeks. She is 25, so her lavish wedding, high rise NYC apartment, and endless doorman mentions are not relatable to most. I do think people can relate to her family dynamic- sibling closeness, divorce and even the loss of her father, but her mother is another story. I understand her stance on that relationship but I disagree that her mother is “conservative.” That’s not how I would define conservative. I felt the book really avoided a lot of things related to her mother, but then again, so does the rest of her public life. No posts, no stories, no pics. This, in addition to the above mentioned things make Claudia not relatable to me and therefore I walk away not much of a “fan” that she so much strives for. It’s just not my cup of tea but I can see how others like her and I wish her and Jackie success and happiness.

I got this book because I listen to her podcast. It’s a great look at marketing in this age of social media. Plus, she is sincere, funny and cute. I’m on the older side and just get a kick out of her, her family and their podcast- The Toast, and The Good Guys.
Quick read. Nice way to escape reality for a few.

There are no words for how incredible this book is! Alongside Claudia I laughed, I cried, I cringed, I laughed some more! Every word, every page, completely captured the essence of the beautiful, stunning, and smart woman Claudia is! I am so PROUD of you, and proud to be a fan of you! From the Breath to the Toast, it has been an incredible journey, and I am so touched and thankful Claudia shared her story in such a raw, honest, hilarious way! They say never meet your heroes - but I have met mine and she is everything of the sort! A true Stan and Fan for life, thank you for this book, Claudia! - Lauren Hakimi, Camp Toast G4 (for life)
