The book starts with the aftermath of the last book and then quickly gets exciting. A deity needs a favor and Evelyn gets to experiment with magic. Then Evelyn’s extended family come calling for an event that the author wrote really well. The event itself is crazy but that’s normal considering Evelyn comes from a clan of fey. Then the end comes in a bang with a nice open end that leaves readers with a satisfying conclusion but wanting the next book as soon is it can be written.
This book has some nice character growth for Evelyn as she reunites with her parents and they deal with missing much of her childhood. The harem members don’t get as much focus although Fya has potentially found the best possible addition for Evelyn to invite along on her journey. Syndy is the most lovable character that really offers so much potential. Djinn and fey make for interesting parties and there’s a lot more that was extremely interesting.
Evelyn has earned the scrutiny of other Powers and the author does a good job of showing who has a potential interest and why, while leaving it vague to keeps readers guessing. Some big world building hints were dropped. Readers will be excited to see where everything is going to go next as Evelyn goes from adventure to adventure in the episodic format the author mainly uses in this series.
