5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, Charges Fast, Great for using Samsung Dex to show phone video on a TV!
Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019
Bought an HDMI adpater from BestBuy and it wasn't cutting it, was told about this product by my friend who already owned one, after it arrived, I saw an immediate difference! This product is magnitudes better than the best USB-C/HDMI Adapter I could've bought anywhere around me.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note9 and I use this device to watch YouTube and use my phone on the big screen TV, no Apps or Setup needed, just plug it in. I also bought a bluetooth mouse so while this is hooked up I could leave it on the other side of the room, but you can take this device as far as your HDMI cable goes with no problems!

This one supports fast charging, so it's able to keep up the extra battery drain that Samsung DEX causes while on the big screen! Ill even put this on the TV at 15% and fall asleep with it still connected and wake up to the phone at 100% charge.

I'm glad I dont even have to take my case off to use this, this product also has replaced my USB-C micro SD card reader, I wasn't even planning on using this product for that purpose but it's just so much more convenient than taking my phone out of its case every time I want to read/write to an sd/micro SD!

4.0 out of 5 stars Note 9 either DeX xor USB hub + Ethernet

Updating after having for over a year.

The biggest pros I have for this using with my phone is after tinkering around are:
1. Watching TV on the go - With my Note 9 I can jam a lot of videos on my phone, granted some ways of downloading the videos work better than others, and depending on where I am at, I can do a fair amound of streaming while plugged into say a hotel room HDTV. I like this better than using Samsung's HDMI only DeX cable because Samsung's cable does not provide charging and things goof up a lot with it and I lose HDMI. With this device however it is a solid connection and after say watching stuff for a while my phone is fully charged. Actually I am typing this up on my phone in DeX mode with a wireless USB keyboard and mouse through the device I am reviewing. While it may take some tinkering to get this or that to work well and not everything will work, it turns the phone into a sorta PC on the go. One of my old dreams was to have a little 'brick' computer to easily carry around and plug in anywhere to have my 'PC' on the go and this helps to make my phone more like that while still falling well short of what is possible in this realm. It at least seems to be doing the more common on the go things I am really looking to do.

2. Wired in networking and transfering files around - There are a lot of limitations to this that seem to be on the Android / Samsung side of things centered around large transfers tend to fail, but yeah as long as you are not plugging anything into the HDMI port, all of a sudden your phone has a USB hub plugged into it and you can plug any number of things into this USB hub and have it potentially recognise on the phone.

So far it seems with this device either I get DeX mode with the HDMI + one USB + charge port working, which does have some benefit over just having the Samsung DeX HDMI cable in that you get power. Or without the the HDMI cable plugged in I get a USB hub and an Ethernet jack + charge port. Unfortunately it does not all seem to work at the same time even though they are in the same device, which is frustrating. However I suppose it still is a nifty little device for transferring files around or using DeX on the go with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or having both a keyboard and mouse through a single USB dongle and charge without an extra Qi charger to lug around. In other words seems like a rather practical device for on the go stuff.

More specifically with the USB ports with HDMI in DeX mode the nearest to the phone cable USB port is working just for keyboard and mouse. I tried plugging the dongle into the port on the far end, but it just caused the phone to instantly get stuck in a boot loop. I have also tried plugging an Ethernet dongle into the USB ports while in DeX mode and it just won't recognise.

The Ethernet port (only works when no HDMI is connected) measures ~230 Mb/s with iPerf, so not too quick, actually a good WiFi signal will go faster with the Note 9 (more like 400 Mb/s), but an improvement over the ~150 Mb/s I got with a dedicated USB Ethernet dongle through the supplied USB port adapter that came with the phone. For reference the same USB dongle plugged straight into a laptop with USB 3.0 will get a little over 900 Mb/s in iPerf.

A really handy thing about this is the plug fits through my phone case. My main motivating factor for getting this one over similar devices is I do not have to take my phone out of its case to use it, so a definite plus for small hole phone cases.

If you are looking to use this to do phone to phone file transfers, you need to keep the files small and the total transfer small or else the transfer literally will never finish. This seems to be an Android / Samsung thing. It is really frustrating because large file transfers work fine with a laptop, just not your phone. The best bet file transfer wise is to focus on either network or USB stick (with either EXFAT for broadest compatibility or EXT4 for Linux) file transfers and fish around for a program that won't die in the middle of the transfer.

Updating here for Linux laptop experience. I have also used this with my Linux based Dell XPS 15 7590 laptop. In some ways this is nicer than my TB3 based Startech docking station. With the TB3 docking station under Linux, it seems a bit hit or miss whether it really works and there is some configuration involved, however this little device just works. A common thing to need is an HDMI port and a couple USB ports while on the go and this is present. This also allows charging over USB (say you travel with your Nintendo Switch) and wired Ethernet if you need it. Pretty sweet. As this works for Linux pretty well, I suspect it will be a good experience under Windows and may also under MacOS.

For the price, well you have still gained some good bang for the buck it seems and fairly minimal extra hardware to lug around. Will consider this more as time goes along. So far the missing star is for functionality I was hoping to have and serious failure modes such as instantly putting the phone into a boot loop when trying to use the second USB port with DeX. The thing is I am not sure how much each problem is a device thing or a Samsung thing or even a USB-C thing. Samsung seems to have some odd and artificial limitations with DeX, which is annoying. If I can confirm the problems are not with the device itself, I will put the last star on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well, fun to use with my phone.

I wasn't sure this would work all that well. It works when I hook it up and allows me to see my phone (Note 8) on a monitor, and the keyboard and mouse work as well. It's small, but adds USB ports that I need especially when I can't be at my desk where my hub is located.

Material quality is average, but that's what I expected and for the price there are no complaints regarding that. It is put together well, just average materials.

I did find that it does not like to work if the cable is HDMI to DVI, but HDMI through works fine. Everything else works on it as well as long as I have it plugged in. I look forward to using this on future trips.

Works as expected, very happy.

I purchased this product to connect to my Samsung Galaxy S10 and use the Samsung DeX desktop experience. This small, compact hub provides all the interfaces I need, and they can all be used simultaneously when the hub is powered. I have a portable computer weighing in at 3.1 lbs. (half the weight of my laptop). A. is the TOPOINT USB C hub. B. is my ZeroLemon bluetooth keyboard paired to my phone. C. is a Logitech wireless mouse. D. is my Samsung Galaxy S10. E. is an 11.6 in. 1920x1080 FHD portable monitor powered by 5v USB input. F is my 4 port USB power brick. G. is the USB receiver for my Logitech mouse and H. is my USB thumb drive to store data. These are plugged into both of the USB 3.0 ports. I. is the USB Type C plug that interfaces with my phone. J. is the HDMI connection for the external monitor. K. is the 5v, 4amp, USB Type C power input for the hub. To use all interfaces on the hub, you must supply power to it. The 4amp input works well. L. is the 10/100/1000 Ethernet port. I haven't connected an Ethernet cable in this picture, but it DOES work well. This is the best hub I've found for my purposes. I can turn my Galaxy S10 into a portable computer. So far, I'm pleased with the performance. I've used it 3 times in the field without any issues since I purchased it 4 days ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp but awesome...

This was a surprise, I have a MacBook Pro and this hub has been a blessing, the internet/data transfer speed is great via port, usb speeds and support for Bluetooth dongles, keyboard/mouse is great, the PD system helps a lot. my only gripe is the edges are really sharp, I mean sharp to an extent it will scratch your MacBook if you rub against it. I keep it under the riser like a doc so works well for me. also get a bit warm sometimes when all or most of the ports are busy. Better then a lot of similar hubs in the market. definitely will buy again if needed. also does Samsung DEX really well :-)
