5.0 out of 5 stars Great!

This works great for scanning pages of my textbook for studying so I don’t have to carry the whole heavy book with me. It took me a while to figure out the speed I needed to go to get high quality scans; slower than you think. But so worth it!

4.0 out of 5 stars very useful, although its not wireless like the keywords seem to implicate

So I like this items results, but getting there was a little confusing at first..and its not actually wireless, despite the keywords saying that. So you can't connect this wirelessly to your phone via wifi/bluetooth/whatever. You have to take an extra step and use a micro SD (included) and port that from the scanner to your phone or PC in order to print. So if you have a wireless printer that you use with your phone, you can ultimately of course print stuff wirelessly that you scanned...but you won't be doing it directly from the scanner. You have to take that extra step...and port your scans from the included SD card...to your phone or PC every time. Not a big deal, but as it says "wireless (battery)" ? in the listing it made me think this was truly wireless...which lead to some confusion.

Also once you do about 3 test scans you start to get the hang of it. You need to kind of be slow and steady, and it can do it in 5-10 seconds or so. Also great that you don't need any lighting as I tested in a dark room..and the inside underneath generates its own light....so the image quality still looks great....which is pretty cool. This will be very useful in digitizing various old magazine covers, newspaper and other articles, old photos etc. as the quality is better than that of a cell phone.

Overall: its a bit confusing in the wording imo so just know you must port the included SD card to get your scans off. and once you get the hang of it...its a pretty useful item. I would recommend if someone wants better than cell phone quality images of things, anywhere on the go. Whether its worth the cost vs what you can get with a cell phone anyway, may depend on your cell phone....so I am not sure as to that. But for those who want better quality...or have an older cell phone...then its probably worth it in those cases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Portable Scanner
Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2024
This is amazing! It is so simple to use and compact that I don't know how i got along without it. It is really important to note that you want a really flat surface for it to perform the best. The device scans fairly quickly but I have found going a little slower helps minimize errors and distortion. I believe the description listed 4 to 9 seconds and I would definitely recommend the 9 second version as it makes a big difference in having to rescan/retry a scan. The price point on this seems a little high but I am not completely fluent in the various features offered by comparison. I will say that I am completely satisfied with this scanner.

3.0 out of 5 stars Handy But Finicky: 3 Stars for IRIScan Book Portable Scanner v5
Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2024
The IRIScan Book v5 portable scanner is a good option for those who need a super compact scanner for on-the-go document capturing. It's small and lightweight, making it easy to toss in your bag and use wherever you are. Being able to scan directly to an SD card is a plus, and the option to scan to various formats like Word and PDF is useful.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks that kept it from getting a higher rating from me. First, the scanning speed isn't exactly lightning fast. If you have a lot of documents to scan, it can be a bit time-consuming. Second, I found the scanner itself to be a little finicky at times. It didn't always scan documents perfectly straight, and required some fiddling to get things just right.

Honestly, for my own personal use, I find it easier to just stick with the Google Scanner app on my phone. It's free and does a decent job of capturing documents, although it's not a perfect system either.

So, overall, the IRIScan Book v5 gets 3 stars. It's a decent option for portability, but the slow scanning speed and finicky operation make it less ideal for heavy-duty scanning tasks. If you just need a scanner for occasional on-the-go use, it might be worth considering, but if you need something for frequent scanning or require high-speed performance, you might want to look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars IRIScan Book Portable Scanner Wireless Battery -

This portable scanner is average quality. It took me a couple of tries before I actually was able to get my first scan. It gave me some trouble at first during setup but I came back and tried a couple of times and finally it worked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and compact portable mini scanner
Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2024
This highly portable wireless scanner works great and it is very easy to use. The IRIScan is very intuitive to use and it's simple to get started -- once you've charged it you can start using it right away. The design is lightweight and compact, making it highly portable and practical to use when on the go. It scans accurately and in high resolution. The scanner has different format choices, such as jpg, pdf, Word and Excel. The documents you scan are saved on the included micro SD card. It also includes a micro SD adapter, making it easy to use with any computer, docking station, etc. You can also scan directly to a computer or laptop with the USB connection option. The battery life is very good, and I'm able to use it continually for extended periods of time without recharging. The process to scan is slower than taking a photograph, but results in a higher quality and more useable file. Overall, this portable scanner makes scanning documents easy and it's very useful for scanning documents or books wherever you need it. I also like that it comes with a carrying case. Great for students, researchers, business meetings, trips to the library or archives, etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to get started
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2024
I had high hopes for this scanner. I need to scan photos from old photo albums without taking them out. I spend an hour and a half of my life trying to get started with this and finally gave up. It won’t scan plugged into my computer and when it does scan, the images don’t transfer to the software. It took 7 tries to download the software. I hope I can find another product that works better.
