This bass guitar is simply amazing. With my other basses, for instance my Squier P Bass, I had to work a little to fret a note, and it's tougher for me because I have small hands, small fingers. The action on this beauty is magnificent! I would highly, stridently, avidly, enthusiastically, recommend this instrument to anyone who plays bass, whether for gigging, recording, or just amateur noodling at home. You will not be disappointed. This is a beautiful looking, and sounding, electric bass guitar.

1.0 out of 5 stars Neck warped. 3rd fret was popping off.

For $520 I was expecting at most a truss rod adjustment. It got here and the neck was warped along with the 3rd fret popping off. Buyer beware. These aren't stored properly amd qc coming out of the warehouse is garbage. I do not recommend buying this bass online.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bass

I am never disappointed with Schecter basses and this is no exception. You always get a lot for your money. In this case a greatly finished instrument, very soft and fast neck, relatively light bass, great array of sounds and all of this at a great price! Highly recommend...

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Headbanger Bass

Overall, I really can't say anything bad about this instrument. However, this being a review, I'm sure I can come up with something. It's got smooth action with the frets at an ideal height, a somewhat narrow (think Fender J-bass) neck, and solid tuning equipment. I'm pretty rough on strings, but haven't knocked this thing significantly out of tune yet. The basswood* body allows for just the right amount of resonance to feel what you're playing and create some sustain without being overpowering, and the finish seems to be pretty durable- and, well, pretty. The double-coil pickups make for a virtually noiseless sound, though the main volume pot can emit some scratchy tones when you give it a good sudden crank. (Could be unique to mine, but I just thought I'd mention it.) For the life of me, I can't see the need for active electronics in this bass. Do I really need a pre-amp with a battery that can go dead without so much as a warning light or something? If I want more volume, I can always, ehem, just turn up my amp! Of course, I'm just assuming the battery powers a pre-amp. For some reason, this bass ships without an owner's manual. "Shipped ready to play" indeed. As long as you have time to mess with the knobs and hazard a few guesses! The flimsy, light-guage round-wound strings were replaced within 30 minutes of unpacking the Omen (Onion? Just kidding), but other than that, I play this thing as it shipped. The Schecter people are kind enough to thow in a (10 or 12-ft) patch cord. O yeah, and three allen wrenches. I hope I never need them because I don't know what to do with them- all I can find are Phillips screws. Again, this is a great bass overall. I challenge anyone to find more bang for their buck.

*I'm not sure what Basswood is, exactly, or by what alchemical means one comes by it. Perhaps, in a forest near Berlin, is a secret grove of Basswood trees- perhaps within walking distance of Guitarwood trees.

Super nice bass, especially considering it was a very good price. For the money some other brands simply give you a much cheaper made instrument.

1.0 out of 5 stars Would have rocked if not tuned and let to sit for a year plus! Neck Warped. Fret rattle so bad, un-tuneable. What a let down.

Diamond Series was discontinued a long time ago. Bass was left tuned in box for at least a year. Neck warped. Major Fret Rattle. Could not tune. Say's on back; Set Up To Play. NO WAY! I would have to take it to get fixed and spend another $50.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet bass with mighty tone

First off, the bass is beautiful to look at. Lovely, durable black finish with crème binding and sweet inlays. Rivals more expensive models. The hardware is decent, not great, but good for this price-range. Playability is excellent. Trim neck plays fast. It did however require a very slight truss-rod adjustment, but that went quickly as the rod works perfectly. It's always good to test the truss-rod even if it's setup just the way you like it. You don't want to find out it's bad after it's out of warranty. Sound is big with snappy highs. Great for slap and pop or nailing octaves with a pick. The tone is modern-active but can be tamed to sound more P or J by making EQ adjustments. I already have P + J passive basses, so I was looking for a rocking active bass and this fits the bill perfectly.
