5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and Stable Connection
Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2024
I've tested this ethernet adapter using my desktop, and the connection has been reliable. I don't have gigabit internet, so I'm not able to fully utilize its maximum 2.5Gbps speed. However, it's good to know that it's capable of reaching such speeds. The housing is solid and feels durable. I like that the adapter is powered solely by USB-C, with no external power required. I did not observe connection dropouts or connectivity issues when using this adapter. Simple and easy to use. Great product!

This compact and portable adapter delivers a fast and reliable Ethernet connection, noticeably improving my network speed over standard adapters. The aluminum build is sleek and sturdy, making it a perfect match for my MacBook Pro. Setup was easy, just plug and play with no additional drivers required. It's really good value for the price, offering high performance without breaking the bank.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, easy to use 1/2.5g Ethernet adapter for Macs, ultrabooks, etc
Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2024
This adapter is a pretty simple, effortless way to add 1- or 2.5-gigabit Ethernet to any computer with a USB-C port. I tried it out on my XPS 15 9570 and it was immediately recognized, and showed 2.5gbps connecting to a mini-switch's 2.5g uplink port. Nothing amazing or outrageous, just a good product that does what it should.

This adapter was $27 when I ordered it. That's a fair price based on other adapters I've bought locally. An adapter for use with USB-A would be nice, but I have plenty of those already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works for 1Gbps, not able to test for 2.5Gbps
Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2024
While the fastest switch I have access to is only 1Gbps, I'm able to fully utilize that network speed when using this adapter. I plugged it in the first time and Windows recognized it within a minute, needing no external drivers, and I was up and running on the network shortly after that. Construction seems fairly sturdy, able to deal with normal bends in the cable, and I didn't see any cracks or gaps in the unit housing so altogether I'm happy to recommend this adapter if you need ethernet connectivity on your Windows computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solidly built and performs well
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2024
I'm very impressed with this ethernet adapter. It performs flawlessly and hits 2.5Gbit no sweat. It's also built very ruggedly.

This unit is based on a Realtek RTL8156/RTL8156B USB 2.5G ethernet chipset, which is pretty well known and supported. I did have to manually install drivers on Windows 10. For some reason, Sabrent locks them behind a login (WTF?), so I just downloaded them straight from Realtek instead.

Once set up, I was easily able to push the full 2.5Gbit through, directly connected to my QNAP TS-453D NAS's inbuilt 2.5Gbit interface. I did my testing using iperf3. Make sure you have jumbo frames enabled for best performance. I was even able to get full speeds with the adapter connected to a type-C to type-A adapter (into a USB 3.0 port.)

Build quality is top-notch, with a sturdy cable and aluminum housing that also helps dissipate heat.

I couldn't get PXE booting to work, as advertised, but my computer is likely too old and lacks UNDI drivers for it. (It works with older USB ethernet adapters.) I also couldn't get it to work on my Android phone (Xperia 1 III, running Android 13), for likely the same reason. Neither are the adapter's fault, of course.

I'm very impressed with this adapter, especially being from a name brand at such a competitive price. Drivers locked behind an account on the manufacturer website is ridiculous, though. Come on, Sabrent. Otherwise, it's a great item and I give it a hearty thumbs up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with PfSense
Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2024
I'm doing something you're not supposed to do and I'm using this ethernet adapter with PfSense. I have proxmox installed on my firewall and I have this adapter set up as a linux bridge. I haven't had any performance issues or dropouts, and I'm getting the full 2.5gbps speed. If this adapter works well in that scenario, it should work well for anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-Notch Ethernet Adapter for the Price
Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2024
This ethernet adapter is a real workhorse, delivering on the promised 2.5 Gbps speeds without a hitch. It's built solidly with an aluminum housing that's not only tough but also helps in heat dissipation, a big plus for gadget durability. Setup was a breeze on my M1 MacBook Pro—plugged it in and it was ready to go, no driver fuss necessary. It matches the space gray of my laptop perfectly, which is a nice aesthetic touch. For anyone needing a reliable, high-speed connection, especially if WiFi just isn’t cutting it for large file transfers or stable streaming, this adapter is a fantastic choice at a competitive price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sleep wake issues
Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2024
This USB-C ethernet adapter works great when you first plug it in. When your computer sleeps and wakes back up about 80% of the time it will only connect at 1Gbps. I tried this on two different laptops and used two different network switches from different brands and I was able to reproduce this issue easily. I tried different drivers and even tried booting into linux. Without fail I could get it to drop from 2.5Gbps to 1Gbps after the computer woke from sleep. I don't have this issue with another network dongle that uses the same chipset so this seems to be a Sabrent issue.
