I like it's video editing capabilities. I dislike it's RAM usage. It cannot hold more than 2 videos over-lapped at once, at times. I still need to read the Manuel, but - so far, it seems that the Software is good! I made many video's on many websites (i.e. YouTube, Instagram, etc.). Used it to layer dances', incidentals' and for videos'. Overall, I enjoyed and continue to do so, this product.

I purchased Vegas 18 pro because of what it offered. Its like a nice looking car with a bad engine, it looks great on the outside but it will leave you stranded. I can't return it, so I have to deal with it. It constantly crashes even on small projects. I have tried alot of the program adjustments and settings recomend to fix this issue, but it still continues to crash. I would not recommend this editing software.

I have been a Vegas user since 2006. I've seen it change hands of ownership several times, but this last time it has been so run into the ground it's just plain sad. Not only does Magix charge you for every single update, the more they do, the less this software will even work.

Let me start by saying I am not computer illiterate, nor do I have a weak system. I'm running a VERY high end PC custom built for video editing. Ryzen 7 3700x, 32 gb ram, NVIDIA 1660Ti graphics. This PC blazes with literally everything else I do with it.

I was using Vegas Move Studio Platinum 16 for the past few years then I saw VP18 was coming out and was promised a download if I upgraded to VP17, which was about $300 I believe. I have been getting more serious with my editing so I figured it would be a good investment. Boy, was I wrong.

VP17 worked okay, but would crash occasionally, but overall I liked the new features that I didn't have in Movie Studio (though there's not as many as you'd think). Once VP18 came out, I quickly installed it, and have been dealing with this nightmare for months until I finally just gave up and started using KDENLIVE for my NLE instead of VP18. What's wrong with it you ask? Well.... it crashes..... like all the time. You literally cannot work for more than 2 minutes without a total lockup or crash. In addition to this, it crashes during rendering about 75% of the time.

I first attempted to contact Magix support. I would spend 20 minutes writing a support ticket, hit submit, then get a 402 error. I did this every day for about a week before I was fuming with frustration, then I finally went to the Vegas forums. I tried every single troubleshooting step the forum members suggested to no avail. I was so frustrated at this point and about 3 months had gone by. I wasted $300 on a piece of junk that I couldn't use to do my job.

I decided to check with Vegas support again. This time the ticket went though, so I waited about a week when they finally responded. The response I received was "We cannot find your account by your name or email". This is utter nonsense. I have been a customer for years, have an account, paid though Magix's own website, sent them my full name, number and email and they "cannot find my account"?

The forums for VP18 are filled with very similar stories as mine. This software is just completely useless garbage and not worth $10, let alone $549. Avoid at all costs.

Fails to issue warning if you are rendering something your hard drive does not have enough space for. What this means is you may have your computer held hostage by Vegas Pro 18 while it renders, only to be told when there's 10% left that your hard drive never actually had enough space for the video, the entire render is cancelled, and you have to start all over again.

The progress bar then said 100% done, but the video file still wasn't ready for at least another hour. How can you be 18 versions in and not know what "100% Done" means?

And the final video? It wouldn't even play.

Every time I attempt to open a MP4 I get an activation code error. Magic customer support is a community forum (in a nutshell) it’s near impossible to contact them. Only after reinstalling 14 with 18 on the same machine was I able to use some of the features, but I don’t want to continue with 14 . I will never purchase a Magix product again but only because of their lack of customer support. Vegas pro 14 has been great but I never needed customer support and I had no idea how non-existent it was until I needed it.

I am a software dev and videographer and i have been using this for very challenging videos to edit. (4k+) When i first downloaded the software if i even imported any file it would crash. I did a little investigating and the reason why this was happening is because default the software allocated .2 gb of ram to the software. After i allocated more ram to the software i was able to edit perfect. If you dont know how to allocate more ram to the software google it.
