This Clover Amour size K hook replaces my old Susan Bates one that I was satisfied with until I noticed that a minor defect in the Bates hook was causing me some problems with every stitch I made. I love my old in-line hooks and prefer them to the tapered hooks from a functionality point of view. However, I am fast changing my opinion of tapered hooks. This one is lightweight, fits comfortably in my "knife grip," and after a little adapting of my crocheting style, at least as good as my old choices. I've decided to eventually replace all my Bates hooks with Clover Amour, and I understand why many online crochet folks are so in amour with Amour hooks. Clover has won this old dog's heart and business. Sorry, Susan!
Update - I just purchased the G size hook. I'm using it with cotton yarn to crochet a steering wheel cover, and with my skinny, ordinary G hook, it's been really hard on my hands and wrists. I started using this new hook, and the discomfort disappeared after a very short while. I guess I really do need the wider ergonomic grip provided by this Amour hook. The hook itself is very slick and smooth I'm sold on this brand all over again.
