Just 60 seconds in the microwave! I add sour cream into the bag, stir & eat out of the bag! It's so good and versatile! You can put it over hot dogs, rice, pasta, whatever. It tastes awesome!

Even after 37 years of marriage with children, I still cook, but not every night anymore. When I do cook a family or family and guests dinner, I like to use our crockpot and my homemade lentil soup is a favorite. I actually prefer vegetarian dishes and lentils are one of my favorites. But because there is no mama homemade lentil soup around all the time, I looked on Amazon for lentil soup options. I found the Tasty Bite organic Madras Lentils in pouches in 2 sizes, single serving and family size. This tasty mix contains lentils, red beans, and spices, and it is “simmered in a creamy tomato sauce.”
After reading the description, I decided to try it. It is now going to be a regular staple in our cupboard. One of the features I really liked was that it is so easy and quick to heat. You can heat it directly in the pouch for one minute in the microwave or add it to a pot and simmer it that way. The other night my husband and I were going out but didn’t have time for dinner so I heated one of the lentil pouches and ate it in the car!
I was even inspired to make a video about it for you guys to help you make a decision if you’re looking for lentils. So here is MusicMom Jeanine with her Madras Lentils in a short “ this is how I do it” video. I give it yummy thumbs ???????? up!

Tasty Bites Vindaloo is definitely tasty. I love the convenience of the pouches. For a quick, easy meal I put a can of mackerel with the Vindaloo and serve over Basmati rice. Serve w tortillas or Naan bread for a quick tasty meal.

A spicy treat when I don’t feel like cooking

I almost never buy prepared food but sometimes I just want something that someone else cooked. This is more expensive than my own cooking, but less than take-out and doesn’t have any ingredients I don’t want. It’s a little soupy, but it’s fine over rice. One packet is two meals with rice. I remove it from the package, pour over rice, and then heat all in the microwave. (I don’t like to cook in packaging.) I add some canned chickpeas for protein. I put some mixed pickle or chutney on the side. Note: the dish is definitely hot. It’s about the limit of how hot I like food. For reference: habanero and scotch bonnet are too hot for me. It’s the kind of pepper you feel on the sides of your tongue and the corners of your mouth. I still feel it on my lips two hours later. But it’s NOT the kind that you feel in your throat and esophagus and makes you have to drink milk as an antidote. I’m going to buy it again and also try their other flavors.
Update: I tried many of the others and this is definitely my favorite. The others were all too “saucy” for me and all tasted the same. This is the only one where I really can taste the vegetable.

Wish it had less salt, but great value compared to ordering from an Indian restaurant when I don’t want to cook. Just pop it in the microwave and pour it over 90 second cooked microwave rice!

Tastes good, healthy, and versatile

Just received a few days ago, and already halfway through my third packet. Have used alone, over basmati brown rice, and with rice and fish., would probably be better with jasmine rice, but one of my dogs was on a temporary chicken and white rice diet, so no jasmine until I go shopping. Also will try hot sauce or spices, but it's perfectly good mild. Eager to try the Mediterranean when in stock. (would order the Mexican, but black beans give me a headache). Very easy, fast prep-- another bonus. Update: Order this regularly now. More economical and versatile than the other choices. And the easiest, fastest prep ever !! Buy with confidence. (And yes, super good with jasmine rice !).
