Good quality. Bought this for my daughter’s hamster and didn’t have to worry about her (the hamster that is) running the ball into anything and opening it up. Felt comfortable with her being out with my dogs out knowing they wouldn’t get her out. I have little dogs but they can get ruff. Will buy again and recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dwarf Hamster loves it

I got the smallest one. My dwarf hamster does love it. It’s a much better size for him than the average one at the store. The only thing is his little toes can fit through the gaps. There has to be air gaps though and he doesn’t get stuck.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD EXERCISE BALL FOR YOUNG RATS
Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2023
I got this for my pet Sherman, a rescue rat, when he was only 4 weeks old. He was only a few inches long at that time. Sherman is now 17 in long and still plays in this ball. It's a little cramped because he is so big now. He gets plenty of exercise outside of the ball. Yet he still like to go in it and has free choice. I set it snugly outside of one of his playpens and when he wants to go for a roll, he will walk in and out and let me know. Then I grab the top and just attach it and let him roam around the house until he's done. When he's done, he travels it back to his playpen entrance. Then I let him out.

The ball is pretty sturdy within reason. The opening takes a bit of savvy to make sure all the parts are fitted together before letting the thing roll. It is easy to clean.

Even though it is 13 in in diameter, it's a little small for a rat this size. I wish they made 15 or 16-in exercise balls! When Sherman plays in it, his tail seems to warp over to the side a little. It would be better if his tail could be straighter behind him. But since he only ambles around in it for a a couple of minutes, and not fast at all, it serves its purpose.

He also has a 12 in diameter exercise wheel. But this ball allows him to roam around the house and be safe. It's worth it to see how He gets enrichment exercise and play time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review and Tips
Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2015
So far this is a very good product. My dwarf hamster enjoys it thoroughly, and I feel confident that she is safe whilst using it. I was conflicted about whether I should get her a ball, but now I'm glad I did.
There is a very serious debate on whether or not hamster balls are good for hamsters. Now that I have bought one for my Russian dwarf hamster, I have come to the conclusion that it differs with each individual hamster. Some hamsters are not comfortable in them and begin to panic, but hamsters like my little lady adore the ball and look forward to their roll-about time. It is also up to the hamster owner to be smart and responsible.
1. Get the correct size (this seven-inch one is good for my dwarf hamster. Syrians need larger ones, such as with the wheels), and try to get a clear one so they can see as well as possible.
2. Get one with a lid that stays on well. The lid on this particular ball is very good at staying on. In fact, it was a bit difficult to open and close it at first.
3. Another responsibility of the owner is to make sure your hamster doesn't get into trouble (drop down stairs, get stuck in tight spots, make a mess in the ball and run through it, etc.).
4. Make sure to limit your hamster's play time in the ball to around ten or fifteen minutes, because the ventilation is not good enough for more time than that. When you first introduce them to the ball, start with only a minute or so and pick up the ball and open the lid to see if they want to get out for a while and maybe try some more later. It is difficult to tell if a hamster is trying to escape a ball, because no matter what they do it just rolls around the room and looks like they're using it as it's intended, so checking in on them is always important.
5. Also make sure your hamster is willing to get in the ball on their own. If they do not want to get in, then you mustn't force them. Try a playpen or a relatively empty and safe room for them to roam if they do not like the ball.
6. Make sure to clean the ball with warm water and baby soap (or a mixture of bleach and water, then the soapy water) before letting your hamster use it, and then wash it regularly after that.
Sorry that turned more into a hamster lesson than a review, but it is very important to keep your pets safe and happy at all times, and many people (including pet stores) do not know some vital information.
I have given this item four stars. I might have given it five if it hadn't arrived with scuffs all over it and impossible to remove tape over the lid.

Keeps the little guy contained so he can run around without getting eaten by the cat. It does let poo fall out the cracks which is kinda gross

Was difficult to put together, felt very cheap. But it held together when my hamster was in it. It’s the perfect size for a hamster! But it did take around 30 minutes to put together as the pieces don’t seem to fit quite right

The sphere is easily put together and it deals nicely. You don’t have to worry about the hamster getting out. Our hamster enjoyed exercising in it for awhile. At the end we easily rinsed it out for the next use.

The 5" size is perfect for our dwarf hamster. She can easily roll it around. Locks and unlocks well. No issues.
