FOR WINE, BEER & MEAD-MAKING - Fermaid O is a highly efficient yeast nutrient and rich source of more natural nitrogen. It’s used to achieve steady wine fermentations by compensating for deficiencies in nitrogen and micronutrients in the must (unfermented wine). It can also be a vital component in the brewing process for beer and mead.
HOW IT WORKS - Fermaid O aids yeast in producing less heat during fermentation compared to nutrients containing DAP. This minimizes heat spikes, resulting in fewer negative sulfur compounds and off-flavors in the wine. Additionally, it enhances ripe fruit character while reducing dryness sensation on the palate.
EFFICIENT YEAST NUTRIENT - Fermaid O is an updated version of Fermaid K, notable for its absence of more natural nitrogen such as Diammonium phosphate (DAP) or ammonia salts. The more natural nitrogen it provides makes it easier for wine yeast to digest, resulting in a more uniform fermentation process.
SUGGESTED USAGE - Recommended dosage is 1.5 grams per gallon of wine. Best if added in 2 doses: half at the end of the lag phase, and the other half once the sugar content is depleted by 1 ⁄ 3 of original gravity, calculated with a hydrometer. Before adding the second dose to an active fermentation, mix with room temperature water to avoid excess CO2 release and overflow.

I added the yeast energizer directly to the fermenter and then aerated it. The fermentation has been going strong since then.

I use this for meads primarily and it definitely helps keep fermentation going smoothly. I’ll likely look for a better deal elsewhere though.

I used to make winer commercially and currently make home ciders. In order to best use this product, start with nonclorinated water and heat to 110%, mis Go-Ferm in and stir until the temp drops to the range of 95deg F - 105deg F. Then add your dried yeast and stir. Let it drop to within 5 deg of your cider/wine juice. Then add to juice.

This yeast nutrient is nice in the sense that it is organic. It also does work well, but it is extremely tough to dissolve or mix into liquid. The feeding schedule is also kind of a pain!
