If you want to get something better than a conventional box fan, this fan could be a solution for you. No, it doesn't require refrigerant but it can still provide cooled airflow. This fan comes with a remote, 4 extra ice packs, 4 casters. You have typical buttons with a timer, fan speed but also a cooler button and a swing button, which is essentially oscillate.

To get cooled air, add water to 2 of the included ice packs and freeze. Fill the tank from the top with water and drop the ice packs into the top under the lid. Turn on to your desired fanspeed and click the cooler button and enjoy!

Very light and compact and comes with rollers and a remote for added convenience. I took this camping, because July in Kentucky is brutal, and it cooled the tent down so we could sleep. Soothing background noise (like a fan plus rain) made it easier to sleep. The directions could be clearer, but I figured it out. You'll also need a way to refreeze the little ice packs as they eventually thaw. Works best to cool a single room in a house which is of course its intended use.

This product is simple to set up and keeps our house cool. It's not as cold as the more expensive air conditioners, but does a better job than traditional fans.
