About this item

Pre-drilling Design: GeepKey generator inlet box is designed for easy removal and replacement of wiring caps, without the need for special tools like a drill or knockout punch, or the assistance of an electrician. This saves you both time and money.
ETL Certification: 125/250V, 7500W, 30Amp generator inlet box with NEAM L14-30 inlet generator plug, suitable for all 30 amp NEMA L14-30 generator cord. This pb30 power inlet box is a good partner for the generator to accommodate the power cord. It is designed to be installed in outdoor areas where generators are used outdoors, and also be ideal for backup power during power outages/bad weather, etc.
Best Choice for Outdoor: the whole body of GeepKey generator power inlet box is covered with anti-rust coating, with powerful features such as wind, rain and rust! In addition, it adopts a flip design (with weatherproofing foam inside), which is dedicated to preventing dust and humid air; it can provide the best protection in any bad weather!
Green Safety Light: There is a clear green warning light on the flip cover, which will be lit when the power connection is successful; Comparing with the old version, this generator inlet 30 amp plug can see a clearly visible green light indicator when working (especially in Night and dark areas), thus providing the best performance and higher security
Large Space with 4 Way Connection: The large space of 6.1*4.1*3.1 inches allows you to wire more neatly; the heat dissipation effect is better, and it has a longer service life. The front panel can be removed, making installation more portable. And the 1.2-inch combination hole with 4 areas (left, right, bottom, rear) can be directly connected to the switch and electrical panel from multiple directions.

Manufacturer has modified this box from original design. The holes are pre-opened and have plugs that can be removed. Super easy compared to having to pop them open or drill (as some have complained about in the past).

The light on the receptacle flap is a little unnecessary, but it is kinda nice to have all the same. You know if you have power to it whether you’re using a generator, or if you’re using it as an outlet for a high amp outdoor application (think hot tub).

Seems sturdy, was decently priced, and fit where I wanted it without issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Caution: knockouts will not release

A quality unit - but...... the knockuts will not release as normal. You will need to drill out, and fine grind the openings to the proper size unfortunately. It was a frustrating experience to what should have been an easy install.

Not the easiest user friendly installation. As the reviews I read before purchasing the knock outs are not stamped they look like it but will not pop out, they have to be drilled. Also spacers are needed behind the unit when securing to the wall or the cover will not slide on. I have installed many and they work well and do the job, maybe not the top of the line but for the savings worth it!

This is a very robust box it's definitely not going to twist or warp when you're installing it or twisting the cord in or out. The instructions state that the "knock outs" are really more of a suggestion where to drill for conduit entries. The metal is intentionally THICK due to the manufacturer having to meet ETL standards for approval to sell this box. The flip cover seems to have a positive "snap" to ensure it is fully closed while not in use. I just received my box this morning so I have not installed it yet, but I don't forsee a problem since I have all the required tools for drilling the knockout out. If you need a step drill you can get an inexpensive one at harbor freight or Amazon, just remember for a 1/2" conduit entry you need to drill a 7/8" (0.875") hole, and for a 3/4" conduit entry you need to drill an 1-1/8" (1.125") hole. If I have problems I will update my review.
Update: I just installed this box and all went well. I used a 1 1/8" hole saw to drill out the bottom knock out. Installed a 3/4" PVC connector and mounted the box to my cedar siding through the 3 mounting holes located in the back of the box. The only complaint I have is the ground binding terminal. I had to completely remove the screw in order for it to open up, honestly not a big deal. I used 8 awg THHN wire which fit perfectly into the holes of the receptacle and 10 awg for the ground (which is NEC code compliant). I know 8 awg is oversized but I had some left over from a previous side job. 6 awg wire will fit into the terminal hole but the bindimg screw won't quite tighten up.
I recommend this product IF you have the required tools for drilling into the box.

First off, if you’re not electrically savvy, please have an electrician install this product. It is built well, has stood up to some pretty inclement Maryland weather to date, and for an electrical hook up, it’s not ugly to look at. Hooking my generator up to my house now is as simple as plugging in the cable and starting the generator. I recommend this product to those who have generators large enough to power most of your home.
