About this item

Read by the author.

In A Crown that Lasts, former Miss Universe and Miss South Africa Demi Tebow confesses the danger of tying our identities to our accomplishments. Discover the truth of who you were created to be and how to use your platform, no matter how big or small, for eternal impact.

On this earth, a crown is what separates victors from the rest of the competitors, but the goal of creating a life worth living is not to gain a trophy, get a prize, or keep the crown. Our lives are not meant to be about being number one or making our own names known. While walking you through the journey of her evolving confidence—from basing her identity on temporary labels and her own efforts, to discovering the rock-solid security of anchoring her dreams in her Maker—Demi weaves her story together with the insights she's learned along the way.

A Crown that Lasts will show you how to

  • Relate to the discomfort, confusion, and doubt that arises when you base your confidence on external things,
  • Discover God-confidence when your plans take unexpected detours,
  • Know what do when planted in unknown territory,
  • Use your story to grow an eternal impact, and
  • Stay grounded in the truth of who you are in Christ.

The purpose of our lives is to love and serve God and others. Demi shows how you can be encouraged to focus not just on your aspirations, but on your greater purpose and leave behind a footprint of significance, not just success.

It took some effort to get past the first couple of chapters (Miss Universe story) but after that, the book is uplifting and so, so wise for someone so young. My MIL wanted to read it too, so I passed it on to her, even though she is in her 80's. Wish this had been written when I was younger and could really apply the lessons she talks about but you are never too old to reflect on your life and become closer to the Lord.

I’m glad I read this book. It is filled with hope, confidence in God, and how to trust Him in reality. While good across identity perspectives, I would particularly endorse this study for a woman’s book club. She has appropriate suggestions and guidance to reflect upon and consider for personal improvement. I’m glad she put her pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).

This has been my favorite read of the year. Demi speaks so authentically through her writing and has truly inspired my walk with Christ. It’s not only an engaging read but also an inspirational one as well. The lessons and messages in each chapter resonate so beautifully with my journey. I’ve recommended all my friends and family to read this. If you’re interested in growth and unfolding your identity in Jesus this is an incredible book to read!

This seems more geared toward younger women than my own generation, but while I didn’t fully relate to everything, I still really enjoyed Demi’s personal testimony of overcoming challenges and drawing near to God. She’s a remarkable woman and role model, and has faced so much more than I would have guessed. Her vulnerability and courage in sharing is sure to touch and encourage many women!

5.0 out of 5 stars An encouraging, uplifting, and helpful book about identity

There was a time in my life when all my labels were ripped away. I wish I had this book 10 years ago - it would have made my season of self-discovery so much easier! In 2014, I got divorced, had to share time with my sons, and my mom passed away. Suddenly, I was no longer a wife, mom, or able to be embraced by my mother. Soon after, I lost my job, which ripped off another label that meant so much to me. In A Crown That Lasts, Demi explains, “Our self-confidence will run dry at some point, but God’s love for us is everlasting and unchanging.” That wisdom is exactly what makes this book so encouraging, uplifting, and helpful. I am thankful that she can help so many of us navigate life with the right understanding of who we are and who we are called to be. I can’t relate to wearing the Miss Universe crown, but I can absolutely relate to the process that required me to “dig, plant, grow, and flourish.” Thankfully, I am now remarried, enjoy incredible relationships with my sons, love a bigger family than I ever imagined, and have my dream job. More importantly, I know that I am wearing “A Crown that Lasts” as a child of God. Reading a book like this as a young lady will prepare you for life. I highly encourage you to read it and share with your best friend, daughter, or sister!

Since I've never engaged with Demi Tebow before, other than her wedding to Tim, I really didn't know what to expect when I began this book. I was unexpectedly surprised and impressed. Demi shares her heart so openly. We would have thought she had it all, and she definitely has been blessed, but even she didn't really have it all together. She has had many ups, downs, trials and successes, just like the rest of us, but she is sharing what she has learned through each of those things. At the end of each section, she gives us our own part to reflect on in our lives. She wants each of us to dig, plant, grow and flourish in our relationships with other and, especially, with Christ. As the title suggests "you are not your label" and we each need to reach for "the crown that lasts." I would highly recommend this book for women of any age.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read if you are searching for your purpose and God-confidence

I didn't know what to expect going into this book. I know of Demi from being a fan of her husband, Tim. I know that together they are incredible role models and have unshakeable faith. But I was blown away by Demi's exceptional way of connecting her faith to her life experiences and then explaining it in a way that you can apply the word of God to your own life.

For someone who hasn't extensively studied scripture and has only gone to church occasionally throughout their life, Demi has a remarkable ability to explain scripture in a way that feels just like chatting with your best friends. She recaps each chapter and invites you to engage in the content by asking a few questions that are thought-provoking and help you apply what she has learned to help better your own life. The plant theme for each chapter was a delightful touch that added cohesion to the book.

I recommend this book to anyone who might be a little lost in finding their purpose and God-confidence.
