5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Practice Pad!

My 13 year old percussionist loves this pad! The double-sided nature is fantastic as he gets two different experiences with his pad. He loves the louder, more snare-like sound. This is a great buy for a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice feel, good size

Back in the 1980s I did some drum corps drumming, but haven't done much since. I decided, on a whim, to pick up a pair of sticks and a practice pad and see if I had any chops left, so I grabbed this Evans pad, and I'm glad I did. The size is nice, you can't put it in your pocket, but you can throw it in a backpack or other small bag. Having two sides is great. The light grey side is softer rubber so more bounce, the dark side feels more like the tight kevlar heads of my DCI days, so that's the only one I use. Bonus to that is that the soft rubber side grabs better to the surface it's on, keeping it in place better. That said, the dark side is considerably louder than the light, and someone doing any serious drumming on the black side is going to be heard throughout the house, or wherever, unless behind closed doors. The light side is actually very quiet. I've been drumming pretty heavily on it since I got it a few weeks ago, and it still looks like new, so the durability seems great. Happy with my Evans pad, now if I can just get my chops back.

40$ is steep and yet worth the sturdy and comfortable pad. It plays well, the gray side has a great feel though im not a fan of the black side. It may be better to just get the one side.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Practice Pad for Aspiring Drummers

The Evans RealFeel Drum Practice Pad has been a valuable addition to my drumming practice routine. This 7-inch practice pad offers several benefits that cater to drummers of all skill levels. Here's why I think it's worthy of a four-star review:

1. Realistic Feel: True to its name, the RealFeel pad lives up to its promise of a "real" drumming experience. The gum rubber surface feels remarkably close to the rebound of an actual drumhead. This makes it an excellent choice for honing drumming technique and building muscle memory.

2. Single-Sided Design: The single-sided design of the practice pad is practical and functional. It provides a consistent playing surface, allowing me to focus on my strokes without having to adjust to different textures.

3. Stand Mountable: The fact that this practice pad is stand mountable is a game-changer. It's compatible with standard snare drum stands, which means you can set it up at the perfect height and angle for comfortable and effective practice.

4. Durability: I've found the Evans RealFeel pad to be quite durable. It can withstand hours of practice without showing significant signs of wear and tear. This durability ensures that it will be a long-lasting addition to my drumming setup.

5. Reduced Volume: If you're concerned about noise levels while practicing, this practice pad offers a quieter alternative to an acoustic drum. It's perfect for late-night or apartment practice sessions when you need to keep the noise down.

6. Excellent for Rudiments: Whether you're working on basic rudiments or more complex drumming patterns, this practice pad provides the responsiveness needed for precise practice and improvement.

7. Portable: Its compact size and lightweight design make it highly portable. It's easy to carry to rehearsals or gigs when you want to warm up or practice on the go.

In conclusion, the Evans RealFeel Drum Practice Pad is an excellent tool for drummers looking to improve their skills and technique. Its realistic feel, durability, and stand-mountable design set it apart as a valuable practice accessory. While I've had a positive experience with this pad, I'm giving it four stars instead of five because I believe there's always room for improvement, and there might be even more exceptional practice pads on the market. Nonetheless, it's a solid choice for drummers seeking a quality practice pad to enhance their drumming abilities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great practice pad

I keep this on a snare stand by my couch and practice rudiments while I'm watching tv. The hard side is considerably louder than the soft rubber side and will probably annoy somebody in another room. I feel like this is sort of the standard drum practice pad. The price seems a little steep for what it is, but it's solidly constructed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good practice drum pad

I am interested in learning drums but I don't have space for a full kit nor did I want the noise from a real drum while I am in the beginning stages of learning. The pad is good for learning beginning rudiments and stick control and is much cheaper than a real drum. This pad is reported to give you a real drum head feel and the bundle also included a pair of sticks. I like the feel and the 12" size gives you enough space without being cramped. There is noise from the hits of the sticks but it is not super loud. Others in the room might still find it annoying if you are reading or doing other quiet things. May even bother some if they are watching TV but it could be a lot worse. I generally play it on my knees while I watch TV. My cats are critics and want to play with the sticks while I practice! I guess you can't please everybody..

I got 6" double sided to practice
at hotel and other travel. It fits perfect on most hotel ice buckets. slightly too small for knee but you can. The 2nd side is cork I think and I don't drum on it the wood is I think particle board, nothing fancy, not finished and prob doesn't like water. I think I'd get bigger size if not travel and getting the two sided version not a huge benefit. rebound is excellent. and it does stay put.

I think this is best option for travel and hotel. go bigger if not travelling.
