I purchased this to replace my older camera that was of similar size, but the technology has improved so much in the past few years, especially pixel quantity. i travel quite a bit, and this camera fits squarely in any jacket of vest pocket.
It is both a camera and a 4K video recorder. With the included 32GB memory card, you can store thousands of photos or hours of video. The video resolution of 2160p is fine enough to view nicely on a big screen television. The fixed lens and 2.8-inch LCD display is also very helpful.
The camera has both a regular and selfie ability. The zoom lens is 16x, and I took several shots at this range and was very impressed with the quality. I also really like the anti-shake technology, which is very helpful to an older adult. At 48 mega-pixels, you can print poster sized prints, if you wish. The quality is excellent. I like the ability of the camera to auto-focus since the camera has better vision than I do, and going from "flash" to "no flash" is just a button away.
The camera comes with everything you need to get started- 2 batteries which will get you through a solid day of photo \ video taking, two handy camera straps, one for over-the-neck and a wrist-held strap, and a 32 GB memory card. Also included are the USB charging cord and electric plug-in charger. I like that the batteries charge in the camera, which saves space without having to carry an external charger. Finally, there is a nice felt-like carrying case and an excellent manual.
I found the software to be intuitive. Press the "menu" button and just toggle to the various modes you wish. The camera buttons are all well designed for zooming in and out, have a selfie mode, and charging light, I recommend this camera highly.
