About this item

Nutrition is essential to living a healthy, happy, and successful life. Yet a world of misconceptions and promises of easy results too often stands in our way - and can even be harmful to our overall health.

The key is to cut through the noise and find the medically backed, statistically proven information about healthy eating and living. These 36 in-depth lectures explore the fundamentals of good nutrition and offer a practical guide for applying these fundamentals to your lifestyle. The power of nutrition lies not just in grasping the concepts behind it, but also in applying those concepts to daily living. This means learning where to find authoritative nutrition information, mastering the science behind nutrients and the body, recognizing what your personal daily requirements of each nutrient should be, building a distinct exercise regimen, and more.

A dietitian and award-winning lecturer, Professor Anding gives you a wealth of invaluable tips you can easily apply to your own eating habits. You'll learn how to calculate your own dietary needs, how to create your own nutrition and exercise plans, how to recognize when a product or service is really a health fraud, and more.

Crafted with the needs of individual people in mind, this course is both a fascinating learning experience and the perfect investment in your personal health - one that will educate you, motivate you, and reward you for the rest of your life.

Nutrition Made Clear is a fantastic collection of 30 minute audio lectures. The lecturer is clear, concise, and knowledgeable. Additionally, she does an INCREDIBLY good job of explaining the material in a way that is easy for a layman to grasp without sacrificing any of the science. If you want to learn University level Nutrition course material, but you don't want to read textbooks, then this is DEFINITELY the choice for you.

One Note: Nutrition Made Clear conforms to the currently most-accepted nutritional theories. In particular, it takes the Lipid Hypothesis as an undisputed fact. No mention of any controversy is made. This may or may not turn out to be good/bad thing, depending on where the evidence eventually falls regarding the Lipid Hypothesis.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for Cooks, Not for Anyone Who Already Knows Basic Tenets of Current Nutrition Thinking
Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2015
This course is a funny mix of “science” and maybe 1990s-era “dumbed down” nutrition. It seems geared to those who know zero about nutrition, peppered with nutrition terminology that will lose most people. It also seems very old school, not current thinking. I nearly bailed when she recommended “margarine” for vegetables but decided to keep at it, it’s Great Courses, after all (I’ve been listening for years). But she lost me completely and forever when she said that in the real world it’s okay to drink two diet sodas -- not more, mind you -- per DAY. Other things make more sense but for anyone who already pays attention to nutrition, you already know to eat whole fruit not drink juice and you don’t need to be told that fruit punch and fruit drink are not fruit juice and that fiber should be sourced from whole foods not supplements. Also? Like so many nutritionists -- it appears she doesn’t know the inside of a kitchen, all the talk is about choosing “better” processed foods. Crazy. Back to Michael Pollan. Eat Real Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants.
