Product description

Note to Prime device users: The way this app gathers its channels requires the 20120405 firmware or later. If no channels show up please go to your prime device's webpage and under "Channel lineup" click on "Detect Channels" then try the channel scan again.

Stream live TV from your HDHomeRun device to your phone or tablet. (Unprotected, copy freely channels only)
This application will allow you to stream live TV to your android phone or tablet. It can be streamed to your device in 1 of 2 ways.
1. Directly from the hdhomerun to your device. This requires a strong network connection to your device (wireless N recommended) and a powerful enough device to decode 1080i video.
2. Through the HdhomerunStreamServer. This uses VLC to transcode the video to a lower bandwidth.

This application can also help you diagnose signal issues. You can view the signal strength of any channel and even graph the signal strength over time. Up to two tuners can be graphed at the same time.

For direct to device streaming you'll need a video player that can decode MPEG2 on your android device.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than SiliconDust's own app
Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2014
I found this app worked better with my HDPrimes than SiliconDust's own app. Note that if you do not already have a video-playing app installed, this app will tell you that you need one and will recommend an app called MX Player - just go ahead and get that because it works fine and HD TV looks great on my Kindle HDX. SD channels even looked relatively good

I experienced some pixelation watching HD wirelessly like this, but I don't really fault the app for that.

My only real complaints are that I wish it remembered the last channel you watched and would automatically scroll the channel list to that channel whenever you opened the app again. It is a (minor) pain to have to scroll through all the channels every time - and I wish when you set up the logo for a channel on one tuner it automatically applied that to the other tuners.

NOTE! You must have TV tuners from SiliconDust on your network. This app, by itself, is NOT meant to allow you to watch TV on your Kindle - it lets you watch TV using SiliconDust tuners (which are pretty neat if you've never heard of them).

HDHomeRun Prime is great! If your needing cable connections to other rooms this will due it. It does take a bit of time to setup, but once done it is well worth the time. Cable card and subscription needed. Why pay for a HD box to have high def contain, when you can get it all here. If your looking to save money from cable start here.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works on Android

The app allow me to watch my homerun tv on my ASUS transformer using MXPRO video product.
There were problems stemming from the bandwidth of my wireless network and from the strength of the broadcast signal.
I could not find out how to lower the resolution of the picture in MXPRO to handle the LOW network speed. As a result I get a lot of frames breaking up and poor audio. This is not true when I have a good signal and higher bandwidth. So, there is hope for this product provided it automatically adjusts buffering/resolution in line with the network speed.

The combination of HomeRun TV and VLC video player was a good solution to viewing TV on my HD Homerun dual tuner using my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 tablet. HomeRun immediately found the tuner and scanned all of the channels. It also immediately found VLC and made it the default tuner. I tried a couple of other video players, but VLC was the smoothest. The only glitch was that VLC froze once. I just went to the tablet settings application manager and forced VLC to stop. That only happened once.

this is want you need to make your Ethernet home network an over the air HD TV receiver. One end goes from your antenna via coax into the HomeRun, the other end goes from HomeRun Ethernet port to your TV or computer. Flawless operation for many years. Why pay for cable!
