About this item

An engaging guide to the art of forest bathing, inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, for anyone who wants to explore the transformative power of nature in promoting health and happiness.

Forest bathing is the art of spending intentional time in nature and is practiced throughout the world to increase health and restore well-being. More and more people are turning to forest bathing as an evidence-based way to unplug, relieve stress and anxiety, and spark creativity.

Through simple invitations to slow down, walk in silence, cultivate tree energy, and connect with the sun and forest, this audiobook enables you to incorporate the inspiring benefits of time spent in nature - a calm mind, renewed energy, boosted creativity, and inner peace - into your daily life to find deeper meaning and contentment.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is special!! An inspirational and practical guide for anyone!

This book is a gem! I bought it for myself and then bought several more to give as gifts!
The author combines the science and the spirituality of being with trees in a beautifully articulate and accessible style. Her authentic love for nature shines through the pages, and her thoughtful words are both empowering and inviting. I’ve read other materials on forest bathing and had several experiences with it and found this book to be a treasure for both the forest bathing newbie as well as someone with more experience.
The book presents the myriad of benefits we can receive from being outdoors along with thoughtful invitations to access these benefits. There are beautiful pictures interspersed in the book and I found myself underlining and highlighting passages that spoke well beyond their meaning in the forest - they are inspirational words for life.
I also appreciated the call to action to care for our planet, and how forest bathing is a way to hear that call.
I look forward to reading this book again and again - it sits on my coffee table as a reminder to be present with the beauty that surrounds us and to remember our reciprocal relationship with nature.

Read a little of this book each day for inspiration, savoring each chapter and unpacking the wisdom in each. Perfect for a day in the woods, or back in the city to wind down in the evening. This beautiful blend of writing, photography, and research has deepened my relationship to nature and piqued my curiosity about forest bathing. Try reading it slowly and unhurried – less from your head and more from your heart. Thank you, Julia, for sharing with us your experiences and these practices through this resource. P.S. Also makes a great gift!

1.0 out of 5 stars So not resonating with the new agey content.

Unfortunately this is a regretted purchase, I'll admit I went based on all the positive reviews and did very little research on the content of the book. I was looking for a more practical approach that covered the healing and mental health and was totally turned off by her use of "mother nature" "the universe" and other hippy-witchy lingo. I'm not into burning a smudge stick and waving it around as well as making offerings to trees or building altars to meditate in front of or what have you. It's too far out for me. I love nature but it's not my religion. I don't believe in bowing to the sun or any other such "witchcraft". So this is a strong no. I just want a practical guide for how to heal yourself mentally and physically by being out in nature and mindfulness practice in nature. But without it being based on naturalism and nature worshipping. My search continues.
