A Great Addition for Enhanced Audio and Versatility

I recently added the GoPro Media Mod to my HERO 10 Black, and it's been a fantastic upgrade. I primarily use it to connect a lav mic for clear audio while the camera is mounted on my motorcycle helmet. The Media Mod delivers excellent sound quality and enhances the overall functionality of the camera. It’s worth noting that this version does not include the removable windscreen. The added microphone and accessory mounts have been very useful. If you're looking to improve your GoPro setup, especially for motorcycle or action filming, the Media Mod is a great investment.

I see people complaining that it doesn't have a wind sceeen. It's right in the description. So if you purchase this, and you're mad, that's on you. You can't buy the windscreens. They don't sell them. Gopro should sell them because it's an issue. I have a mod and don't need the windscreen. I need to be able to plug in my lavalier mics. You need this to have that option. There is a work around if you want to add a windscreen but you're going to have to get crafty. So channel your inner Martha Stewart and get creative. Otherwise use it for an adapter for your lavalier, shotgun, etc mic... There's a reason it's cheaper than the regular one. It looks like they're both delivered directly from Gopro.

Does not work correctly

This media mod seemed to work at first for viewing videos on my tv then the videos started to be out of sync I inspected my camera and it seemed to be taking videos fine then i tried videoing with the mod on the camera for a day of fishing it started to take video then went out of video mode tried turning it back on and it went out of video mode 4 more times and finally on the fifth time it started to work then 10 minutes later shut down again this happened all day and when reviewing the clips at the end of the day only 4 out of 12 videos were viewable . So because its past the return date by 2 weeks I guess im stuck with a 50$ piece of crap that doesn't work right .

The media mod was a good addition to my gopro hero 9. 2 things, you can't charge a battery while it's attached and it didn't come with a mic wind screen. Still a good addition.

Great Edition to My Gopro 10

I just got this last night and am already impressed. Of course it is by GoPro so the fit is perfect to my GoPro 10 Black. The thing I like best about it is that it expands the capabilities of the camera extensively. With this addition, I now have a USB-C port, Micro USB (for charging), A pretty decent external mic (much better than the internal one), and a radio jack if I wanted to add a different external mic. In addition to all of this, it has two external shoe mounts for lighting and for another mic. All in all it is a well thought out setup.

The only drawback I can see is that when I need to change a battery, it is going to be a bear, because I need to remove the entire device to reach the battery and memory card. For my intended purpose (using it is a webcam to film a live show) it shouldn't pose a problem.

This is the same exact mod that you pay $80+ for, with the exception that you don't get a wind guard for the mic. You can make your own wingard out of a piece of something else like a foam. I would highly recommend this for beginners. The ports and back work perfectly, you just have to fix the settings in the camera for everything to work properly.

It’s good but can’t use mic

The media could not be loaded.

I use it for my motorcycle. It’s very easy to use. Performance is great! The fit and appearance is decent but not crazy. But totally worth the money!

UPDATE 09/10/2024:
I got an external mic and it wouldn’t pick up any of my audio. Not matter how much I tried with adaptors, etc. nothing. Still works but can’t use an external mic for some reason.

Made my GoPro into a nice quality camcorder except for zoom capability. I recommend a sponge or “dead cat” for the microphone outdoors.
