About this item
Butting heads leads to knocking boots in this wildly sexy enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, small town cowboy romance by Jessica Peterson.
My dad and I have been estranged for years. But as his only living relative, it’s no surprise I inherit his massive cattle ranch when he dies. Something that is a surprise? The stipulation in his will, which requires me to live on the ranch and actively manage it for a year before I can access my inheritance money.
I haven’t stepped foot in Hartsville, Texas, population one thousand, since my parents split when I was six. Now a city girl through and through, I never imagined having to move back to cowboy country. But I need the money to invest in my company, and a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
There’s just one giant roadblock to my plan: the ranch’s foreman, grumpy cowboy Cash Rivers. I don’t care how good he looks in his Wranglers and chaps. He’s rude, he’s growly, and he wants me gone. I’d fire him in a heartbeat, but I need this cowboy to teach me the ropes of running a ranch.
We’re enemies from the get-go. But turns out, Cash is really good at this ranch thing. He’s got strong hands, an intelligent mind, and let’s just say everything really is bigger in Texas. Working alongside him leads to conversations beneath the stars. Throw in some cheek-to-cheek dancing at the local dive bar, and it all feels so right that I start to fall in love with life on the ranch. And maybe with him, too.
But my stay in Hartsville is only temporary. And you know what they say about cowboys: they may break horses, but they also break hearts. If only Cash hadn’t already lassoed mine…
CASH is the first standalone book in the brand new steamy, interconnected Lucky River Ranch Series!

And Cash did it for me! My favorite author finally went into her cowboy era and I'm not mad about it! I loved it. This book was right up my alley and she delivered a masterpiece.
Cash & Mollie are my new favorite book couple and Cash claimed his spot up there with the Eaton boys and that says something. And Mollie is my spirit animal from now on. She's fierce, badass, and doesn't let anyone run over her. I loved how Jessica made her grief journey relatable and understandable for readers.
And Cash? Ugh loyal to the bone, a family man, and loves hard without any shame, it's refreshing to see MMC's like that..
Here are some of my favorite quotes from this book.
“Mollie Luck, if there’s one thing you don’t need, it’s someone telling you what you can’t do. You know what you’re capable of.” Looking at me, he screws one eye shut against the brightening sun. “So get out there and do the damn thing.” Smiling, I sit up straighter. “That was a surprisingly great little speech, Cash.”
" Maybe Dad wasn’t a bad person. Maybe I’m not either. Maybe we were both just hurt people, and we did the best we could with what we had. Just because we weren’t good to each other doesn’t mean we haven’t been good to the people who are in our lives. "
“But you can.” He steps closer, melting his hips into mine. “Because you gotta know by now, I can’t deny you anything, Mollie. Not a damn thing.” I thought swooning was something that only happened in books. I can now affirm it is an actual thing that happens to actual people, because it’s happening to me.
There was a lot of back n forth at first and a lot of explaining but eventually the love story finally kicked in. loved it. Cash was a wonderful man. So sweet and loving. Perfect overall. And Mollie was a sweetheart. She was just a little confused.
Now I’ve read my fair share of cowboy romances, but it’s been a while since I’ve read one as good as this book. Cash is the perfect example of a good cowboy romance! It had everything that I love about this trope and so much more. It honestly took me by surprise. This book had a little bit of everything. From the very first page, I was hooked to Cash and Mollie’s story. As someone who enjoys enemies to lovers, the banter and push and pull between these two characters was so good! It also made for some great moments throughout this book. I also thought the love between Cash and Mollie was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Which made the slow burn pace of their romance worth the wait. The other thing that I loved and found touching about this story was connection between these characters when it came to grief and how they dealt with it. For me, it made their story more relatable and deeply moving.
Overall, this book was such an enjoyable read that I cannot recommend enough. Cash was a great introduction into Jessica’s new small town cowboy romance series. A definite must read for anyone who loves cowboys and small town romances. I can’t wait to read more of this series!

Mollie Luck has been sent to Hartsville Texas, the sight of her father's ranch for the reading of his will, and as far as she knows she's the only beneficiary. When she gets there though there's a twist, and she's not the only one unhappy about it.
Cash Rivers had been promised the Luck Ranch by Garrett Luck so many times he thought this was all just a matter of paperwork, when all he walks away with is a key to a safety deposit box he is fuming mad, and determined to see Mollie Luck leave his ranch!
The emotions in CASH will immediately grip you and twist your heart, I spent a lot of this book in tears I'm not going to lie. The horseback scene when they're on their way back to the ranch, oh my LORD! I was heartbroken for Mollie, and the first bathtub scene?!? Jessica Peterson is SUBLIME at writing men with real emotions!!
There's so much push and pull before we actually get to the spicy scenes in this book, I could just FEEL how much Cash and Mollie wanted each other on every.single.page. And the spice is HAWT!! Holy ZOMG, I was not left wanting more they go from down and dirty to making love, and it's just so sweet in places it made my heart throb! Cash's possessiveness is everything I want in a gruff, growly cowboy, he's just perfection!!
Mollie is an absolute doll when she falls for everything on the ranch, and going back and forth in her mind about whether to stay or go back to Dallas I could just really feel the fight about what she sees as her life before, and what she wants in the life ahead of her. I love how Jessica wrote about her relationship with her mother, and her past relationship with her father, and how it has affected every choice she's made.
CASH is in my top ten for 2024, I'm just so enthralled with these two characters, and the entire family on the ranch. I can easily see this being a book I'll re-read in the future, it is THAT GOOD!
