5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value for Back-to-School!

Review:
I recently purchased the HP 14” HD Laptop (Back to School Limited Edition) and have been quite impressed with its performance and features.

Pros:

• Design: The Rose Gold finish is absolutely stunning and gives it a premium look. The laptop is lightweight and portable, perfect for carrying around campus.
• Performance: The Intel Quad-Core Processor and 8GB RAM handle multitasking smoothly. I’ve been able to run multiple applications simultaneously without any lag.
• Storage: The 576GB storage capacity is more than enough for my needs. It allows me to store all my documents, media files, and applications with room to spare.
• Battery Life: The battery life is impressive, lasting me through most of the day without needing a recharge.
• Extras: The 1 Year Microsoft 365 subscription is a great bonus, providing access to essential Office applications. The WOWPC Bundle included some handy accessories.

Cons:

• Screen: While the HD screen is decent, it could be brighter and more vibrant. It works well for most tasks but might not be ideal for photo or video editing.
• Speakers: The audio quality is average. For better sound, external speakers or headphones are recommended.

Overall, the HP 14” HD Laptop is an excellent choice for students. It offers great value for money with its combination of design, performance, and useful extras. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish laptop for school or everyday use. And fast connection reliability

Received the product in a timely manner, thank you amazon. The laptop itself was unable to be used as the screen upon booting it up looked fine but after 30 min it started having lines run across it making it impossible to see/read the screen. Tried calling the seller company number that was on a card that came with the laptop. There was no answer and when it got to the mailbox it was "full". That should have been a sign that this wasn't going to go well. But I emailed the company and sent photos of the issue and they responded back a few days later asking to full out a paper and send back. I did this and 2weeks later no response. I emailed them again and waited a week with another no response. Thank you to amazon for fully refunding and assisting me to get this item returned.
Photo included is partial of the screen with lines the lines load slowly across the screen over time. It took 10 min to fully reach the top of the screen.

Great labtop for college at a cheap price. I ordered the rose gold color. It looks super cute. I did not like the sound of the keyboard but I am starting to get use to it. It's a great size and fast as well. It is so easy to set up. It is also very light with compared to other laptops. I always like to buy my laptops from HP love their brand as they are super durable.

I got it a couple hours ago and so far no issues! The Appearance of the laptop is very pretty (I got the rose gold one). The audio is fine but the feeling of the actual computer does have that plastic feeling but regardless it’s lightweight and that’s enough for me. It’s not touch screen but I that doesn’t matter to me, I don’t need it but if you want a laptop that’s touchscreen just get a Chromebook or and iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard. Of course if you have a lot of tabs open it will be a little slow. I would recommend getting it but get one with more storage because I got one with a minimum amount of it, 6gb (I managed to get 16 tho) ram and 576 gb

3.0 out of 5 stars Very dependent on external hard drive
Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2024
First things first: I received the laptop in perfect working order, but the external hard drive was defective. I spent hours researching and testing to come to the conclusion that it was not my laptop or the wire, but the drive itself. Once I came to that conclusion, I sent a detailed message to the seller (Oydisen WOWPC) and was pleased to see a response the very next day. They promised to send me a replacement within the next 2-4 days. Today is day three and I have not yet received the new external hard drive. I have, however, borrowed a brand new 400GB external hard drive which works perfectly and has given me the chance to continue experimenting.

This laptop is aimed towards students, yet also advertises more power than the average student will ever need. I purchased it due to my cheap, aging computer and the need for something long-lasting that I can travel with. As someone who mostly does mundane tasks (lots of research, YouTube, and browsing the web for my artistic hobbies) but occasionally games, here is my experience within the first several days:

1. This laptop is slower to power on than laptops I've had that were underpowered in comparison. No big deal, I can wait the extra seconds.

2. It comes in this "Windows S mode" which essentially is an attempt to force you to only use what's available through the Microsoft store. The startup process prompted me to sync my data from a previous device with the same account. I waited for everything to download, but because most of it wasn't directly from Microsoft, all I got were empty shortcuts and junk files. I had to turn off Windows S mode (irreversible by the way) and wait AGAIN as I manually downloaded my stuff. They brand it as being for your device's security, but I have used some of those apps since 2015 and have never had problems. Windows S mode is just another selfish, manipulative design that wasted my entire evening.

3. The laptop's internal drive comes with a little over 50GB of space, and I was displeased to find that most of it is already taken up by the system. I did not enjoy handpicking what to download directly onto the laptop (i.e. my favorite browser) + deleting default applications that are of no use to me. This is incredibly inconvenient for gaming as well; for example, the Minecraft mods from the CurseForge app can be moved to the external hard drive, but the app itself HAS to exist on the internal drive to function properly. I knew going into this that laptops are not ideal for gaming due to the limited power. I did not anticipate having to teach myself how to micromanage internal storage. I cannot imagine using this thing without the external drive connected at all times. I've opened task manager as soon as I powered this laptop on, and with no processes that *I started*, it would spend ten minutes already being over 50% CPU. And this is after disabling most startup apps.

4. I ordered the pink version of this laptop and the keyboard layout is what I'm familiar with. Of course, the measurements are slightly different. Due to the color of the letters and the material of the keys, the letters are practically invisible in certain lighting/angles. This makes it incredibly challenging to develop muscle memory for typing.

5. When I'm in a video game, changing the device's brightness or volume briefly glitches/stutters the screen. The CPU gets overloaded, if I adjust the volume then it cuts out and/or makes startling sounds, and the game temporarily freezes. This only happens for a couple seconds, but it's every single time I use those buttons. I grew up on devices with 8GB RAM, 48GB space maximum, outdated graphics cards, and have never before had this problem. I don't know if it's one particular issue or a combination but it gets annoying fast.

6. I do a lot of writing. Mostly original fiction and/or editing for other people. This means that I also spend a lot of time opening new browser tabs to research miscellaneous topics. I have used this laptop with both fast and slow wifi. Even with the fast wifi, I get a LOT of keyboard delay regardless of how many tabs are open. I have to open a tab, wait for the default page to load, and then begin typing. Otherwise I have to wait for it to catch up. My six year old monitor can do better than that.

Overall, I would only recommend this laptop to an average person with minimal expectations for technology. This will do just fine if you're strictly buying it for educational or work purposes. Expect a timely setup process and be prepared to Google some "how to's." I recommend this laptop to anyone who just needs something to use. I do not recommend this laptop to anyone looking to upgrade whatever they already have. It cannot handle as heavy of a load as it appears. Plus, there are a bunch of small quirks that will irritate anyone who is already fluent with computers.
