The wine stopper is not suitable, sometimes it leaks air, and the overall use experience is not good.

I had a different wine saver pump that lasted for many years but the stoppers finally gave up their vacuum seal capacity. This was a good replacement, even an upgrade. It's a super simple mechanism. You put the stopper on the wine bottle and pull up on the pump. It sucks air out of a tiny hole in the top of the stopper that opens up because a little plug piece gets sucked up too and then falls back down to keep the air from coming back in to the bottle. I am sure my other pump had the same type of mechanism, but it was hidden inside a plastic piece. I like how it's more visible here - you can tell when it's engaged. And I assume if the little plug thing got lost or out of place I could see that as well. I also like how it makes a clicking noise to let you know that you've gotten all the air out. I haven't figured out how it does that yet but it's clever. And the wine stays fresh for a really long time. I know there are much more expensive versions of this out there but I can't imagine what could possibly be better. This certainly gets all the air out so there's no reason why you'd need a pump with a motor to to the same thing. I guess maybe some stoppers are better than others so there might be some where the seal holds even longer? But so far these stoppers work great and I haven't had any issues with them losing their seal.

A nice functional wine vacuum pump.

It's plastic and not particularly impressive in terms of build quality, but it's also rather affordable accordingly.

And while there are electric pumps on the market, something about electronics and batteries being used with wine seems tacky and not fitting for a good wine.

And of course, vacuum pumping any carbonated (sparkling, like moscato) doesn't really work well.

Great product that works as advertised.

You get the pump and 6 stoppers for like $6!! This is easy to use and definitely can extend the life of your leftover wines. Sometimes I like to open a bunch of different wines to pair different courses or appetizers, and I left with like half a bottle of half a dozen of wines, these stoppers and this pump comes in handy. These stoppers also make a click sound when the appropriate “vacuum” is achieved.

I really like the way this wine bottle pump works! You put one of the silicone stoppers in the bottle, put the pump on top of the stopper and press a few times to draw the air out. Take the pump off, leaving the stopper in and you've got fresh wine to finish another day! I like to keep a bottle of red wine on hand for cooking but only use a half-cup or so at a time. This makes it easy to keep some on hand for cooking purposes. Also, my husband and I like different wines and I don't always want to, or need to, finish off a whole bottle at a time. Using this makes it where I can save some for another day. At the current price of $6.39, I highly recommend this wine pump with 6 stoppers!

This is pretty specific to wine bottles (too small for a bourbon bottle I had). For wine, it worked perfectly. Slip in the cork then pump it until you hear the click (which oddly sounds like the glass is cracking). My only complaint is the cork was a little smaller than necessary. It went in smoothly and did seal the bottle, but you would need to be careful not to break the seal moving it around. Assuming it is to save the wine longer, it is just fine. If you want to travel with a bottle sealed like this... I might look elsewhere... or at least tape it so it doesn't come loose.
