About this item

Dave Ramsey shares Biblical wisdom on the legacy we build with our wealth.

What does the Bible really say about money? About wealth? How much does God expect you to give to others? How does wealth affect your friendships, marriage, and children? How much is "enough"?

There’s a lot of bad information in our culture today about wealth - and the wealthy. Worse, there’s a growing backlash in America against our most successful neighbors, but why? To many, wealth is seen as the natural result of hard work and wise money management. To others, wealth is viewed as the ultimate, inexcusable sin. This has left a lot of godly men and women honestly confused about what to do with the resources God’s put in their hands. God’s ways of handling money caused them to build wealth, but then they’re left feeling guilty about it. Is this what God had in mind?

In The Legacy Journey, New York Times best-selling author Dave Ramsey takes you deep into God’s Word, revealing His perspective on wealth, your personal and family legacy, and how He wants to use you to further His kingdom work around the world. You can truly live - and leave - a legacy. The journey starts today.

Dave Ramsey's "The Legacy Journey" is the newest of Dave's books and has many powerful messages. For me, the first is that the the journey we make during our lives is guided by a higher source. We are NOT the owner's of the money that we have. Rather, it is God's and we are just the managers, or stewards of that money.

This book, unlike the others, moves us from getting out of debt [should already be there], to creating a legacy, while remembering that as the money managers we should use that money wisely.

As another person says here, "it [the book] takes the next step and deals more with spiritual principals regarding wealth and savings." Of course if you are having trouble meeting day-to-day obligations, make sure you read his other book, "The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness Hardcover – September 10, 2013"

By reading this book and taking it to heart you will find that you will become more responsible with the money that has been entrusted to you. You will become a successful manager and utilize more productive methods of money management.

Hopefully you will learn the lesson of being more responsible using the money God has entrusted to you and live with self-discipline. Through self-discipline and good financial stewardship you can truly change the World.

Another powerful takeaway from this book is to stop focusing on other people's financial choices learn to focus on your own. Learn to live within modest means.

I like to tell others that we don't believe in debt. As I tell all my friends, I don't belong to the Teddy Roosevelt Rough Riders club at San Juan Hill .... "CHARGE!" [it].

Like others on here, it is frustrating watching friends and family spend with seeming disregard for their future ... constantly in debt and living paycheck to paycheck. I find myself giving them copies of the Total Money Makeover and hope they will decide to learn.

This book has reminded me to be grateful for all the gifts and financial freedom that my family and I have.

Finally, this book explains investing in stocks and mutual funds. It also guides the reader in how to leave money for your family, and estate planning.

I am a big Dave Ramsey Fan. I love that with this book he is going biblical context and content. It sounds like he definitely has some haters out that. We are doing the Baby Steps, and love Total Money Makeover. I just feel like this book is a little long and dry at parts, but that he is pouring out his heart in it. Someone looking for a starter Dave Ramsey should avoid this book and stick to total money makeover. If on baby step 3 plus, a good read, but dry at parts.

Leaving a legacy to your children and grandchildren is about more than money. Dave Ramsey's Biblical worldview enhances the idea of how to leave a legacy of wealth with other precious legacies we need to hand down--character, love, spending time together, attention, making memories, teaching, praying, faith, family stories. I especially enjoyed his story about the legacy he received from Clyde Eckles West.

As a person who is not a Biblical scholar, I've been looking for an unbiased discussion of what God wants us to do with wealth. Dave Ramsey does not try to guilt people into being ashamed of wealth. Wealthy people are not evil. If a wealth person gives away all his money, then it is gone and the person can no longer do good with financial assets. If the wealthy person continues to grow his wealth, he can continue to do good with his riches. Dave quotes verses in the Bible what are commonly used to deplore riches and explains the true meaning by discussing the entire verse instead of just one line. Samples he uses includes the passage about the camel passing through the eye of a needle and the one of the poor woman giving all her wealth to the church. He does a lot to dispel the idea that God doesn't like us to be rich. I have read Randy Alcorn's book many years ago but remember thinking he seems somewhat disingenuous when he talks about giving his entire net worth away but found out it was given to his wife and to a organization controlled by him. After that I found it difficult to trust much of what he proposed, (i.e. he advocates that people not have insurance but to trust in God to provide after a loss, yet he has insurance himself.) Critics might argue that I like Ramsey's book better because it says what I wanted it to. The truth is I sincerely wanted a comprehensive discussion about wealth and the Bible and felt I received that with this book.

Once you get out of debt and build an emergency fund, you're ready for your Legacy Journey. It touches on many topics like giving, what do to with your "extra", and how to provide for your children's children.

It also speaks to the importance of your work and how God is very vested in you. Yes, it is biblically based and felt more so than many of Dave's other books. For perspective, if the others rated a 10 on the spiritual scale, this one came in at a 12.

And that is what I especially enjoyed about the Legacy Journey. It was clear, concise, and laid out practical plans for how we should handle our money according to Scripture.

I found it to be an impressive work, an eye opener, and one that makes a ton of sense. Simply put, Dave is the man and he has a gift. Imagine if we all became incredible stewards: How would the world change?
