About this item

Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets political thriller in this heart-pounding series debut about two undercover flames whose new mission risks exposing their true identities to the world…and, worse, each other.

Caspian Anderson is a translator for the United Nations—or so he’s led everyone to believe. No one suspects that mild-mannered Caspian, with his baggy clothes and sensible car, is actually an elite assassin for the US government. And that’s just how he wants it.

For ten years, Caspian has worked under the code name Elias for Onyx, a black program deep within the Department of Homeland Security. His latest mission takes him to Switzerland to kill a target tied to a human trafficking ring. There, Caspian stumbles onto a web of conspiracies involving high-level political figures.

Meanwhile, Caspian’s girlfriend is starting to pull away, and he wonders whether she may have secrets of her own. The truth is, Liesel Bergmann’s a spy. But neither knows the truth about the other…yet. As their covert operations converge, trust becomes paramount. Can they work together to bring down the enemy with their lives—and hearts—still intact?

Classic Espionage story. Kept my interest, not alot of superfluous writing to fill space. I liked the characters, I would recommend this book.

“The Elias Network’ is a good and entertaining tale of espionage and assassination.

It’s not quite up to the level of Fleming’s James Bond, Ludlum’s Jason Bourne, or Silva’s Gabriel Allon novels. But it does feature exciting locations (Manhattan and Zermatt), some compelling characters in interesting relationships, realistic espionage tradecraft, an understanding of current geopolitical relationships, lots of action and suspense, and a huge plot twist.

I thought the main character, agent/assassin Caspian Anderson, was not as effectively drawn as he might have been—that he lacked a certain ingredient, quality, skill, or even past-time that might have put him on the same plane as Bond, Bourne, or Allon. Still, this is the first book in a planned series so, hopefully, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to add whatever is necessary to make him a truly stand-out character.

I look forward to the next book in the series.

What an exciting book. The Elias Network was chock full of exciting characters, nail-biting situations, and yes, thrills.
Simon Gervais wove together several plot lines intertwining the characters, and keeping readers guessing while trying to figure out who is doing what to whom! Excellent book. I look forward to following more Caspian Anderson shenanigans in the next book.
If you like the Jason Bourne, or Jack Ryan stories you will like these.
I gave The Elias Network 4 stars because it held my interest, made sense, and was totally entertaining, even if it threatened my cardiac health at times.
