5.0 out of 5 stars Really fun and has features NO other DJI drone has.

The good:
Inexpensive
NO remote ID or other regulatory pains.
tiny and lightweight, cute and adorable. Truly impressive for weight and price.
Tough: my dog ripped from the air and fell real hard on hardwood floor. Seems unscathed
voice feedback, pre-programmed modes at the touch of a button on drone and use with out any other gear. This sets it apart from ANY other DJI gear!!
Follow me works out of the box did not even read instructions. works in bad lighting like 20 minutes after sunset for example.
Hybrid drone: FPV and normal. works with, goggles 3, motion controller, RC-2, FPV 3 controller but have not tried. Great integration with the DJI ecosystem.
Good range with the goggles 3 and RC2 controller
Child's play to use out of the box. great starter.
Safe. all around prop guards allow landing and take off from hand. Auto lands if you put your hand under it during flight.
DJI support and care refresh crash protection 1 year for $22. A no brainer for someone like me who crashes all the time.
I still have not used with WiFi/phone only for controller
other fancy modes.

Not so good
Noisy. i think louder then mini 4 pro, avata 2, air 3
No micro SD slot. surprising. limits you to around 40 min 4k footage.
Slow compared to Avata2, or any other DJI drone that I have. 17 MPH max in sport mode
Only downward (sort of) obstacle avoidance through IR sensing but glad to have it.
max AGL of 400 feet high. I don't know why. maybe I can get a zone restriction removal to fix that.
Max take off altitude of 6000 ft.
super buggy initial firmware. an update fixed it but a real time waster

5.0 out of 5 stars DJI Neo Mini Drone – Compact, Smart, and Perfect for 4K Footage!
Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2024
The DJI Neo Mini Drone is an impressive piece of tech, especially for its compact size and weight of just 135g. As someone who loves capturing high-quality video on the go, the 4K UHD camera really blew me away. The video is sharp and stabilized, making it great for both casual flying and professional-looking footage. Plus, the built-in propeller guards add a layer of safety, perfect for flying in tight spaces.

What I love most about the DJI Neo is the AI subject tracking—it follows me seamlessly without the need for a controller. The palm takeoff feature is incredibly fun and convenient, and the drone is smart enough to handle most flying situations on its own. The QuickShots feature makes creating dynamic shots super easy, and the controller-free operation is a game-changer for those who want a streamlined, hands-free flying experience.

If you’re looking for a lightweight drone that packs a punch with its features, this is the one. The DJI Neo is perfect for both beginners and experienced flyers who want to capture incredible shots without worrying about controlling every move. Highly recommend!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with Neo - The Specs Fall Short
Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2024
The media could not be loaded.
I used the DJI Neo for a several hours the day it arrived and I can’t help but feel a little disappointed with the overall experience. It has its bright spots in the software capabilities and ease of use, but the video quality and tracking were no where near expectations. I have several 4K cameras, action cameras, drones, and this is NOT 4K video. More pros and cons listed below.

The Pro’s:
-Lightweight
-Easy to setup
-Software is really good

The Con’s:
-Video quality is not 4K
-Only shoots in horizontal, not vertical. Can’t believe it doesn’t have vertical video mode for posting on instagram/tiktok.
-The battery life is not as advertised. I used 80% of the battery and got 6.5 minutes of video using all the different automated modes (dronie, follow, rocket, etc). The Neo started with 95% charge and ended with 15%. This would give me about ~10 minutes of videos on a full battery. That is not anywhere near the 18 minutes that are advertised!
-Tracking from both front and back is not great. Often loses track if you take any type of hard turns.
-Downloading videos to phone is very slow without WiFi. Had to turn off my cellular (with full bars 5G) so it could download on WiFi only.
-The video is over sharpened and over saturated. This means objects look fuzzy in the background and colors look fake. For a “4K camera” that is not how it should look.
-The follow speed is quite slow (stated as 12mph). Anything more than a light jog and it will lose you. Can’t follow on a bike, scooter, or anything beyond a jog that well.

Overall, I feel DJI stretched the truth about the specs and performance of the Neo. I would rather pay more money for a real 4K camera that looks good, faster tracking speed, and better tracking capabilities. I love the experience of a flying camera and will be looking at other products that have better performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars The the $130 controller to make this worth every penny!
Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2024
What, you mean this is actually a $330 drone? Well, yeah. At $200 it works, and works well, but you don't get the full feature set. If you get the $130 controller that DJI sells, it will wake this drone up and make it much more usable and fun. Of course you can go all out and spend $500 for the goggles, and another $200 for the two controllers that really open this drone up to some real flying. But at that point, I'd suggest going with the Avata 2 instead.

Overall though, for a cheap start to droning, this guy is a great choice. Fantastic video, easy controls, some nice features that others don't have (missing a few they have though....) But still, this is a great start for those who want to dip thier toes before jumping in. And, after you jump in, this little guy will still come out of your bag of drones once in a while to do some things you wouldn't want your more expensive drones to do.

Only negative to me is the super short battery life. I've never achieved over 10 mins flight. As light as this drone is, I think DJI could find a way to make a battery that's at least a little bit bigger. 15 mins real world flight time would be a big plus.
