First off this is a review for the Dickies Men's Relaxed Straight-Fit Cargo Work Pant so don't allow this review to be attached other products. Im talking to you amazon.
The Good
*made of tough thick material.
*has a bombproof metal clasp instead of a sewn on button which always fail.
*has rite sized front pockets. I carry a lot of stuff in my pockets and the pockets are big enough to carry it all with out being so deep that they are down by my knees swaying around.
*has velcro cargo pockets that do a good job of keeping stuff inside.
What Could be Better.
*has wide belt loops which would be good if they weren't so wide. they're a little too wide for my key clip which is annoying but still works if I fiddle with the clip and the belt loop every time. otherwise the clip falls off the belt loop if I don't get it just rite.
*they run about 1/2 of an inch or more big on the waist and they're about 2" longer than they claim on the inseam. I normally wear pants with a 30" inseam and I can roll the pant leg up one time and they're still just a little too long. im a 32-30 normally and they don't offer any shorter of an inseam. I can either take the time and money to get them hemmed or look like a fool with my pants on the ground. I don't like pants up to my ankles by any means but this length is definetly longer than stated. I grew up in the era where baggy jeans were the thing and dudes still looked like dudes. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing the girls jeans these confused kids are wearing today. as much as I could appreciate the baggy jeans of the late 90s at the time, these are just a tad too baggy for what I consider would look good today. I normally prefer loose fit but these pants make you look like you're wearing your dads cloths because they just a little too baggy and way too long.
they could be the best work pants made if they offered them with,
*an elastic waist
*gusseted crotch
*even AND odd waist measurments
*a grey thats dark enough to keep most stains at bay with out overheating you too much in the sun. the super light grey that is currently offered looks like its for someone who's a little light in the loafers or a architect instead of being for someone who physically works. don't get me started on the kaki color. who would wear that for work pants unless you had a management position?
*just a little less bagginess
*a truer fit measurement wise
*and this is a big one, more inseam options so you don't have to hem them
I have red cap pt60ch7 that have an elastic waist and they're a lot thinner. they are the most comfortable work pants Ive ever had because of the freeness of movement. part of this is because they don't sag low due to the elastic waist and the other reason is because they are thin. the red caps also nailed the grey color. at least on the old ones I still have. but they don't have cargo pockets and they don't have the clasp. these dickies will undoubtably last longer but are more restricting. ill probably go back to the red cap pt60ch7 when it gets hot outside. ill miss the clasp and the cargo pockets though. if only you could design your own work pants.
