In this updated edition of the bestseller that launched Flatiron's list ten years ago, Oprah shares what she has come to know for sure in the last decade.

After film critic Gene Siskel asked her, "What do you know for sure?" Oprah Winfrey began writing the "What I Know For Sure" column in O, The Oprah Magazine. Saying that the question offered her a way to take "stock of her life," Oprah has penned one column a month over the last fourteen years, years in which she retired The Oprah Winfrey Show (the highest-rated program of its kind in history), launched her own television network, became America's only black billionaire, was awarded an honorary degree from Harvard University and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, watched friends and colleagues come and go, and celebrated milestone birthdays. Throughout it all, she's continued to offer her profound and inspiring words of wisdom in her "What I Know For Sure" column in O, The Oprah Magazine.

Now, for the first time, these thoughtful gems have been revised, updated, and collected in What I Know For Sure, a beautiful audiobook packed with insight and revelation from Oprah Winfrey. Organized by theme—joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity, and power—these essays offer a rare and powerful glimpse into the mind of one of the world's most extraordinary women. Candid, moving, exhilarating, uplifting, and dynamic, the words Oprah shares in What I Know For Sure shimmer with the sort of wisdom and truth that listeners will turn to again and again.

A Macmillan Audio production from Flatiron Books.

With this book, you better have a pencil nearby! I absolutely love the way Oprah Winfrey tells things, sharing her life lessons and decisions. Those were the things I needed while struggling with some life choices and thoughts about my future... So if you got the same position when you think you might fall at any minute.. go grab a copy for yourself (or even an audio one, which may be cheaper) and enjoy the Oprah experience, learn from it, try something new, and live life anew, learn, laugh, think...

Now, I KNOW FOR SURE that I will read this book repeatedly!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book for Self Reflection

This is a easy read filled with many thought provoking statements. As usual, Oprah is very open about herself and her ideas. It was very enjoyable to read. This book has a positive, self reflective feel that is worthy of the time spent to read it.

Oprah has been one of my heroes since I was a kid (especially after finding out we are the same ENFJ personality type). I always admired her ability to listen and connect with someone and I see that intimacy in each of her interviews even today. This book is a compilation of a column out of the O magazine, called What I Know for Sure. I am sure that it is a great column in the magazine but I can tell you it's better as a collection. My only regret about reading this is that I read it too fast. Most chapters are worth absorbing again because of how thought provoking and profound they are. Oprah manages to always be insightful and instructive by way of her candid openness that prevents her from coming across as preachy or audacious even though she is very spiritual. I needed a lot of her positive energy about the general good that exists (found in the little things) and that how we are all in this together, and there is no "us vs. them." In some ways this book honors its back cover and is very much a fire lighter but at the same time convinces the reader to take time to heal - to aim - before firing the arrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Listening to this book is WORTH EVERY PENNY and more...

So maybe many of these stories you had heard before if you're a fan of Oprah... but what a joy it is to have it all in one compact place. Much of what she has to say is worth repeating. She ties in her personal experiences with life lessons in a way that is relatable - even though you may have very little in common with Oprah. She pulls out quotes that hit home and help us to make sense of the world from a perspective we maybe never considered before.

Listening to this book as opposed to reading it is also quite helpful. I can be on the road or cooking in my kitchen and take in the stories and lessons as I work instead of setting aside reading time (which isn't always easy). I am so thankful that Oprah did the voice over for this book... it is such a joy to hear her relish in the details - adding her own cadence, emphasis, and emotion. I could probably "hear" her voice in my head if I read the words off of the page, but it is so much better to truly hear it from her directly.

This audio CD is worth every penny. I need these clever bits of wisdom to ground me and motivate me. I'll be listening to these CDs over and over for many days and many years to come. Thank you Oprah - for doing what you do and for always trying to not only better yourself, but help us to all better ourselves as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars this book confirms every thing I believe - it's a guiding light that I am on the right path in life

I will recommend this book to everyone in my life. I will purchase this book for all the women in my life. I gave this book review 5 stars because it touched on every major point in my life the very belief I held in my heart that took me to the other side of the challenges this book confirmed my heart was on the right path. At all times-during those situations I looked within for the answers and my heart has never failed to protect me. Oprah inspires me to continue on my path and step it up a notch or more. At 53 I removed myself from a 13 year relationship and struggled with at my age a chance to love again is over. Today is six months since I asked him to leave. I now know without a doubt my life is just getting started. This was the perfect book to read and inspire me to continue on with all that I am. I do know this that we are not here to be loved it is to love others - along the way if love finds us as it will, it's a bonus. I realized when I left the love for myself was greater than that dysfunctional relationship. I wake up each day in wonder and an open heart because that is just who I am and I love every fiber of me. Thank you Oprah for the confirmation that my path is mine to create and if a situation doesn't align with all that I am it's ok to walk away.
