5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Generator
Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2024
I bought this generator and was very pleased. Upon receiving it, it was packed very well. It was very easy to put together. Took about 20 min to assemble. All tools needed to assemble were in the box. Please remember to remove two red brackets on the bottom of generator that were used to stabilize the generator during shipment.
Was surprisiling not as loud as a lot of other generators I have heard. Started up immediately when I turned on the key. I used mine to power a 10,000 BTU AC, my tv, charger for my phone, and a small portable fan all at the same time. I used gasoline. It ran for 8 1/2 hours before I needed to refill. In the future I am planning on getting a 12k watt generator. This brand is pretty good. Pleasantly surprised for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make sure you have a long neck oil funnel.
Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2021
The generator arrived earlier than expected yesterday (2/23/21). It was already late in the evening when I got home to work on it so I didn't do a full run to break it in, but I did get everything set up and run it for about 20 minutes or so off a propane tank and it ran great. Way quieter than other generators I've used.

As other reviewers have mentioned, first thing you need to do after opening the box is remove the red shipping brackets under the motor. This isn't too difficult if you just tip the generator on its side or back and use a little ratchet and wrench.
The instructions say that it should arrive with the negative (-) electrical wire already attached because it's positioned close to the wheel, however mine wasn't. Both wires were loose, so I had to connect both of the wires, which again was no problem using a standard ratchet kit.
The wheel kit is easy enough to install and makes moving it around considerably easier. While the unit is still heavy at 100+ pounds, it's way easier to move around than larger generators.
The trickiest part was putting in the oil. I bought some full synthetic 5w-30 oil for mine because I want to make sure it lasts a nice long time so I wanted to run full synthetic right from the start.
Where you need to pour in the oil is set in quite a bit further than the wheel and frame, so there will be things in your way when trying to fill the reservoir. You will definitely want to have a funnel with a long neck, or one that can be adjusted to reach an awkward position.
I wound up tilting mine slightly to the side and holding it there while I used a long-neck funnel to pour the oil in, though I'm sure this would have been considerably easier if I had one with a stretchy or adjustable neck.

Once everything was set up and the oil was in I hooked up the propane tank with the provided hose attachment and followed the instructions on the quick-start guide. Everything started up and ran perfectly. To test it out and give it a tiny bit of a break in I hooked up my circular saw and pulled the trigger a few times randomly. It had no trouble handling it. Running off propane the generator was also quite a bit quieter and emitted way less exhaust than a standard gasoline engine.

It's important to remember Propane will only net you about 3500 running watts, a bit less than running on gasoline, but it has the benefits of running cooler, quieter, and keeping the engine and carburetor cleaner. 3,500 is also enough power to handle a standard 1,500 watt electric space heater, tv, and charging station at the same time without any trouble which is all I plan on using it for should another major storm hit again. The instruction booklet also has a table listing the standard wattages for most common home appliances so you can use this to help figure out how much power any items you plug in might draw.

After being without power for 5 days I don't ever want to be in that situation again so I plan on taking care of this generator to make sure we're ready for any future power outages. Even though I haven't used it for a long term test yet I'm already feeling better having it around and knowing how easy it was to get started and running.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great generator. Couple things to know.

Overall, an exceptional value of a generator. Keep the carburetor drained after each use, and make sure it has oil, and it will last a long time and run smooth. We can run half our house off it in an emergency.

Things to know. The battery is not a great quality. We’ve had issues with it keeping a charge since we purchased it. Easy to replace if desired, or use a jumper battery too (or just the pull chain.) Oil cap may be the hardest little cap to thread on I’ve ever used. Not a big deal, but frustrating.

The important thing to know! Nearly all of these have a bad oil pressure switch! This is a small black wire that comes out of the engine block next to the oil cap. It is an emergency switch for if the oil gets low, it shuts the engine off. Problem is, if it malfunctions it makes it impossible to start with the pull chain, even with full oil. Replace or disconnect this switch and it will start easily. (Make sure you check the oil regularly if disconnected.)

Other than those few issues, this has ran smooth for a few years now. Recommended for an affordable generator.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good dual fuel unit for the price, not too noisy.

Got this to replace my 2016 Honda eu2000i gas inverter generator. It still works great but 2000W isn't enough for all we want to run during power outages. Living in Central America where it's hot and humid 95% of the time, I wanted a generator that could run multiple lamps and fans, a fridge, and a small portable A/C unit. This 5600W generator does it. WEN seems to be a well built brand putting out good power for much less than other known brands. It's cheaper than the new 2200W Honda model that replaced my 2000W. It's a great middle sized portable generator at 115lbs I can still lift and put in the back of my Polaris Ranger's and take from my shop to my condo and drag up 3 flights of stairs. It also has nice strong bars around it to grab and lift with. The larger 11000W WEN weighs over 200lbs so too heavy for that. We set it up fairly easily ( install handle and front feet), added the included oil, put in 4 gallons of fuel, and the electric start fired it up very quickly. It has pull start too if the tiny provided battery ever fails.
Didn't compared actual decibels, but my staff and I don't really notice that it's any louder to the ear than the old small Honda so that is nice! Love the no flat wheels too which is much better than pneumatic tires and easy to move around. Haven't tried butane (propane) yet but happy to have that option for prolonged use.
It has gauges to monitor fuel and such. I'm not sure how easy or difficult getting parts might be.
Only 2 complaints why I give it 4 stars is 1) It comes with just 2 standard 110v wall plugs so you need lots of extension cords with splitters to get the full use. Some other similar size units have 4 plugs like this... BUT it has a 30A RV plug so separately for $20 I got a male 30A Rv plug-in adapter that splits into 3 more 110v standard receptacles.
2) AFTER I purchased it for $484usd the price dropped within 2 days to $433 and has stayed like that the last month. That's a bit of a kick in the wallet and frustrating.

Time will tell but overall at this point I'll definitely consider another WEN if needed.
