5.0 out of 5 stars Good App with custom settings.
Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2014
The best feature for me is the ability to make a custom routine.
The standard routines just don't do it for me.
You can set: inhale, retain, exhale, and sustain.
I currently like a setting of: 6, 2, 6, 2.
This setting will definitely not put you to sleep.

As for the people who say that this app is mumbo jumbo or useless, try recovering from surgery or try going through PT.
I know that there are many other good uses for this app, but I only listed two solid uses.
This is a good app once you get the feel for its' utility.
I don't bother with the selection of music, as this doesn't really matter to me.
Others might find this very useful.

I know that this is probably late for getting this as the FAOTD but it might help you decide if it is worth the money for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Misunderstood what it was...
Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2014
I didn't really understand this was simply BREATHING. The other programs i've purchased have been breathing, but there has also been some type of meditation attached with them. This one would be excellent if one is only concentrating on their breathing, but most people I know do that as an added feature of their meditation and not the primary part of their meditation. Reading the title again, it IS exactly what it proclaims.

1.0 out of 5 stars light headed
Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2014
Every time I got to about the one minute mark I started feeling VERY light-headed. I'd like to point out that almost all the positive reviews start with "I learned this from a medical professional" I've never done something like this before and I think five minutes of it would cause me to pass out. if you've never done deep breathing before, Google diaphragm breathing techniques. DO NOT use this app. you will pass out. This app seems informative (with decent English and minor homonym errors) and educational but clearly has a very bad timer. there's a pretty long pause between breathing steps. I tried it on beginner, easy with intentions of trying it for 10 mins. I tried it twice, both times I felt very light-headed. Also, the instructions should pop up first. you shouldn't have to hunt for them. (I did) Read the instructions! they explain a lot! you'll do it wrong if you don't read the instructions.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Yoga breathing app but I found the suggested breathing patterns to be a bit odd for me
Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2014
This app starts off in a beginner mode and with no training. There are no objectives listed or medical warnings disclosed. The first session is 5 minutes long and the exhale portion of the training is about a count of 4 to 5 versus the inhale which is a count of 2. It just seems like an odd rhythm. The combination of 6 to 7 seconds is a breathing rate of 8 to 10 breaths per minute which is slower than normal. Average breathing rates normally vary between 14 to 20 breaths per minute. Slow breathing can be beneficial as a method of lowering blood pressure and even heart rate.

After you do your first breathing exercise you find there is an information page that includes a warning to see your physician before beginning any new regimen. It also warns about doing the universal breathing program while driving or operating machinery. There is also information on the proper breathing techniques to use such as breathing through your nose. These are nice instructions but to me they should have come first.

The breathing course has three levels of breathing programs ranging from easy, medium and hard. You can also do the exercises to music that covers the areas of natural, classical, ambient, vedic and serenity. The music volume is adjustable and the tones and rhythm of the music help to guide you through the breathing exercises so you do not have to watch the screen and you can focus on relaxing and breathing properly.

Overall the effect on me was to make me sleepy. I know, it seems crazy but the few minutes of unwinding and slowing my breathing just seemed to be very relaxing. I did find the breathing ratios on inhale, exhale or inhale/hold and exhale to be odd rhythms for me. My body apparently has a balanced inhale and exhale cycle with a slight pause in the middle. I really had to focus on following the suggested breathing patterns.

I find this app to be OK but I certainly would not pay $6.99 for it. Get it while it is a FAOTD if you are interested and see if you find it beneficial to use. The app contains no adware, malware or Analytic scanning software in it and it is safe to download.
