These are some handy devices for those of us who lose things a lot. Unfortunately the batteries are not readily replaceable, and opening one is very difficult and likely to destroy at least the case. Of the 4 I bought, one was DOA. After I tore it open, I determined that the Panasonic CR2032 battery that was in it had less than 0.2 Volts.

I thought why not because I'm always losing my keys and wallet. The wallet finder is especially nice. It's a tad bit thicker than a credit card and it's definitely audible. The sound level even when shoved in a wallet is loud enough to hear even if it is covered up by something. I like how it will tell you in the app as well how you are getting closer to the item in question you're looking for. I highly recommend these. They are definitely worth it to have. The only knock I can give these is that they don't have user replaceable batteries. Especially if the wallet size locator had one that would be excellent. Pairing these to your phone is really simple and takes no time at all. I do worry about battery issues on my phone though because it requires the app to run in the background constantly. Not sure why it can't just use permissions of use only when using the app.

I'm writing this from the perspective of an iPhone user. I have 4 Apple AirTags and will use them as a comparison.

There are 3 different tiles in this kit, 2 Tile Mates, a Tile Sticker and a Tile Slim. If you were to buy these separately, it would cost about twice as much, so this is a pretty good deal from the price standpoint.

Activating and setting up a Tile is a pretty simple process. Download and install the app on your phone, click on the Tile button you're activating and it will automatically connect to your phone. It uses Bluetooth, so you'll have to turn on Bluetooth on your phone. As far as locating a Tile, you press the "Find" button for that Tile on the app. If it's within range, the Tile will begin sending a sound through its speaker. The app uses words like weak, moderate, strong and very strong to indicate the location. If you're out of Bluetooth range, the app will show you its last location. There is a thing called the "Tile Network" that can help you locate your Tile by using other Tile owners' phones to anonymously locate and report the location when you're out of Bluetooth range.

The Tile product is not as good as the AirTag product. For one thing, Tile batteries for these 3 types of Tiles are not replaceable. The AirTag has replaceable batteries. Also, the location procedure and accuracy of the AirTag system is superior. The app on the iPhone shows the number of feet you are away from the AirTag and as you close in, an arrow actually points to its location. The accuracy is as close as an inch because it uses UWB for locating services.

As I said, I'm comparing this to an AirTag because I'm an iPhone user. The Tile product might be the best tracker for Android devices. I just don't know.

Overall, I would rate this as an average quality tracker device. It just isn't as good as an AirTag.

My rating method:
1 star - terrible. I wouldn't consider buying it.

2 stars - marginal at best. Doesn't meet the minimum requirements or quality to be useful. Buy it at your own risk.

3 stars - average. Meets the quality and requirements for a product of this type but is nothing out of the ordinary. If the price is good, I'd probably buy it.

4 stars - better than average. Exceeds the typical quality of a product of this type and has a few extra features not usually found on other products of this type. I'd buy it.

5 stars - exceptional - far exceeds the quality of products of this type. Hard to beat the quality and features included. Best value for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Garbage customer service. I bought a four-pack of Tiles and one them did not work. I contacted customer service and they told me I would need to remove the three that worked fine and were already attached and return all four. Why can't I just exchange the one that doesn't work?

After a week of back and forth Tile customer service is still claiming they are "looking into it" and "don't have an update at this time" I assume they are hoping that I will give up, settle for having three that work and pitch the fourth one into the trash. So, I give up. I'm shoving all four into this box and shipping it back to Amazon for a refund. Lesson learned. Avoid this company.

These Tiles are a great way for Android and iPhone users to track their items. The tiles have built in key ring so they can be easily connected to anything you want to track. The slim card easily fits into any wallet, and the sticker can be stuck onto anything you want to track. I had no problems with pairing and they worked well. These Tiles also allow your phone to directly track items up to 350 feet away. After 350 feet then you will have to rely on the Tile network of other phones which is not as widespread as the iPhone network, but still decent.

It's a bit disappointing that the batteries are not replaceable (I haven't personally tried replacing them but even if you find a way to replace the batteries, supposedly they will still not work properly). However, these Tiles come with stronger than average batteries that last for up to 3 years which is not bad.

There are some extra features that require a $30/year subscription, but I personally did not need them.

Super easy to setup and add to my account. Everything was done from the app. Putting these in my luggage and laptop bag, and put one on my wife’s key ring. The cards are also small enough to tuck into your wallet if you’d prefer.
