5.0 out of 5 stars Very reflective, reasonably well made

As a commuter cyclist, I bought this vest to be more visible on the roads, particularly at night. It seems to be quite reflective and good in that regard. The tag also says that it meets ANSI/ISEA 107-2004 Class 2 standards (intended for certain types of workers who deal with traffic or heavy machinery, with class 2 being the middle of three progressively more visible/reflective classes--not that you'd need to know this unless you're purchasing for a specific requirement).

I normally wear size small shirts, with occasional mediums. I bought a medium vest and it is fine for me--it even fits over my black winter jacket (which is probably like most people's fall/spring jacket, but the cycling keeps me warm--so maybe go up if you're trying to fit it over a winter coat). In that regard, I suppose my experience with the sizing is different from others'--it seems more or less true to size, but I went larger anyway because I can sometimes get away with that size and expected to occasionally wear it over a jacket.

I've had it for a few months now, and it's holding up well. It's very lightweight (100% polyester) but the zipper (my typical point of failure) is still going strong, and I've only had to deal with one slightly loose thread (which I've cut and has since been fine, though it had me worried about the quality for a while). It's inexpensive enough that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value but runs small

Exactly what we wanted but they tend to run a little small. Ordered a medium and XL. The medium fits like a small. The XL fits somewhere between a large and XL. If want extra room size up one size.

I bought this for walking the dog in the evenings and it does its job. The yellow is bright and noticeable and the reflective tape works great when car headlights hit it. I bought mine to fit over both my husband's and my jacket so we can rotate depending on who is walking the dog or if both of us go out together one of us has it on to protect all of us. We walk in the rain frequently as we live in Seattle and while it is not water resistant, it still dries quickly and reflects even when wet. I like the zipper on the vest and have had no problems with it. I think if I were to purchase again I would get one with pockets if that were an option. I can still easily access my coat pockets with the vest on so it is not a major deal, I just like extra pockets! Overall, I just feel safer walking at dusk and night with this on and I appreciate others who also wear reflective gear when they are the pedestrians and I am the driver.

Update Feb 15, 2020: Almost 3 year update. This vest is going strong! The color is still bright despite having the neighbor's dog jump all over me with muddy paws. The reflective strips work fantastically and haven't faded or cracked at all. The zipper has worked 100% of the time with no hangups ever. I wear this vest twice a day in all weather. I have since changed my mind- it doesn't need pockets. The neighbors all recognize me from my vest and comment how much they love it. I think this is one of the best things I've purchased for our twice daily walks. The other is a glowing collar for the dog.

3.0 out of 5 stars Small Fit But Durable

The fit runs about a size small so it can be difficult getting your arms through. It is made out of durable material that seems like it will hold up for awhile.

I purchased this vest to wear on my daily walks in the evenings, especially at this time of year when it starts getting dark so early. I don’t make a habit of walking in the dark, but a different times of the year is either dark in the mornings or dark in the early evenings. One misconception that I always notice That is so frustrating is how I have learned there is a common misconception of commuters that oncoming cars can see them. I cannot count the numerous times I have been driving and saw someone all of a sudden disappear to the side of the road and I realize that they seem very content that you can see them. This realization made me buy this vest for myself , now when I wear it when cars are coming towards me, they turn on their high beams, and I realize that they saw me because of the vest and turned on their bright lights to investigate further. It’s lightweight. Very easy to put on top of whatever you’re wearing and it’s worth it. Safety first.

I started my cycling commuting career in the summer of 2012. Being new to the lifestyle, I didn't know what I needed (aside from a helmet). I use trails designed for cyclists and pedestrians as often as possible, but sometimes I need to use the roads, such as in winter when the trail is iced over. On the roads, in daylight, cars often come very, very close to ramming me. I was sick of having my healthy lifestyle put at risk constantly by drivers who are too busy texting to pay attention, so I had a talk with a friend of mine who has been a motorcyclist for years. He explained to me that cyclists are very small and easy to miss. He recommended I get a neon green safety vest for visibility and it has worked very, very well.

Cars are now more aware of me. Because I wear this at all times, it is very hard to miss me--the green catches attention very quickly. This vest has persevered in all kinds of weather, and I'm glad I bought this. Being safe while cycling isn't just buying a helmet. Being safe is also about being as visible as possible--especially at nighttime. The reflectors on this vest work very well in conjunction with my flashlight and wheel lights to create a very, very visible cyclist for motorists.

While, yes, I have to deal with jerk motorists who like to blind me by flashing their brights at me repeatedly, I do feel safer for having bought this visibility vest. If you cycle around motorists--a lot or a little--this is a must.

In case any of you are wondering: This IS machine washable. I had to do a bit of research to decipher the clothes care symbols on the label. Basically: Wash in cold water. Do not bleach. Do not iron. Do not tumble dry.
