5.0 out of 5 stars Works great and easy to use.Disable VPN in order for product to work with their app
Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020
I would like to preface this by saying that you will need to disable your VPN if you plan on using this product. I spent more than I wanted to wondering why this microscope would just not want to connect to the app that I downloaded. I then, as a last resort, decided to disable my VPN. Success!

I was on the fence as to whether to purchase this product or the traditional looking micro scope. After using this product, I'm happy with my decision. Unlike traditional microscopes, you can literally zoom in anything that you want with versatility and ease. It does take some time to get focus just right but considering the price and the ease of use (after disabling your VPN) it was definitely the best decision. Being that I did purchase this for my nephew as a beginner microscope, dont expect to get the definition that you expect with higher end and more intermediate scopes. This is perfect for those who are just getting into this field or those who just want to see what something looks like closer than what a cellphones zoom will give you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works good for what it is

Pros: Price point, portability, Wifi and camera integration and photo capture as advertised (galaxy A50)
Cons: Stated magnification doesn't seem correct. More difficult to use than standard microscope.

I use it primarily for occasional use identifying insect garden pests on leaves and with some patience it serves that role adequately. If you can barely see it with naked eye it will help a lot. it is quite a bit more difficult to use than standard microscope because (a) there is a lag between the image on the phone and response to specimen movement or focus, (b) it lacks a moving vertical platform and fine adjustment knob that makes focus easy on standard scope. I haven't used PC mode since Linux not supported.

See pic of green aphid. That might give you a sense for the magnification. The blue line is notebook paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded my expectations, easy to use and great images. would highly recommended!

This is a great product - better than expected. The WiFi is easy to use and links seamlessly using their proprietary app. I have not used this on a PC connection.

The scope itself is easy to handle and one you get the hang of one handed operation while the other hand manuevers your subject, pictures are a breeze. You can snap pics using the app or the power button on the scope itself. This takes some practice as pushing the button can introduce some jiggle in the picture. Once you get it, your images are very clear and as close as you need it to be with a portable microscope. It charges with Micro USB from the back with an included cable. It also came with a nice stand, but I don't use it as more than a safe place to hold it. Seems like it would work nice enough for examination.

Picture quality is good, and is largely dependent on your ability to get the right focal distance for the subject. The better you get at that, they better your pictures are -- just like a camera.

The app is very simple and straightforward with two functions record video /take picture and View videos / pictures aside from connecting to the camera itself. It's not more than it needs to be and I'm ok with that.

Overall, happily surprised with the device and the app functionality. Durability has yet to be seen, but so far I'm quite pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected

While looking for a digital microscope to do very tiny SMD electronics work with, I was mainly reading reviews and comparing actual screen resolution of the offers that bothered to list such important details. I appreciate the honesty of the seller in stating that this scope has lower resolution when using as a USB cam on a PC, and in spite of that, it is a much clearer and easier to see image than I had expected. My purchase decision was a balance of features for the price, with comparable scopes with any better resolution costing nearly $100 usd or more.

The only issue I had was that the clip on the stand which holds the scope is very fragile and mine was damaged in shipping, but it was easy enough for me to attach the scope using rubber bands, and I am enjoying using it anyhow, so it's not worth dropping from a 5 star review, since all else is much better than expected.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT a microscope. It's a low resolution digital magnifying glass.
Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2020
My main complaint isn't about the quality of the product, but about how the product description does not match what the product does. 1) It does not provide 50x to 1000x magnification. The dial says 50x <> 1000x. Yes. But this dial does not control magnification. It's a focusing dial. Magnification is controlled by the distance between the lens and the object you're looking at. The closer, the greater magnification. So, what's the max magnification on this thing? I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I'm no scientist. But I remember my high school biology labs. This thing gives about 5x magnification. 2) It does not give you 1080p resolution pictures or videos. That's just a lie. This thing runs on a 2 megapixel camera, the kind used by those old flip clamshell phones. Did we get HD quality pictures with those phones? LOL I was such a fool to believe the descriptions on this thing!

With all this said, there are positive reviews for this product. Why? Because of the applications. The customers who gave good reviews on this product are using it as a digital magnifying glass. Good for you guys! But for those looking for a budget microscope hoping to see cell structures, etc. Don't waste your money on this. That's NOT what this things is built to do, despite the lies on the packaging.
