3.0 out of 5 stars How to install it (without the installer)
Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2009
The actual program seems to work fine under 10.5. The problem is that the installer program refuses to do its job, and comes up with an error, saying that a newer version of the software is already installed.

That's unacceptable, but if you really want to install it, here's how.

Control-click (or right-click) on the Elmo installer icon. From the menu that comes up, choose "Show Package Contents." It will open a new folder called "Contents". Inside that folder, you'll find a bunch of little files, including a big one called Archive.pax.gz. Double-click it and it will decompress and install on your computer, likely in the Downloads folder or the Desktop.

The folder will be called Archive, but inside will be the application, which should run normally.

No guarantees, and your mileage may vary.

If you haven't bought the program yet, I'd advise against it. Publishers shouldn't be selling uninstallable games.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware Mac Users
Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2008
Not only does this not work with Leopard, it doesn't even work with the most recent version of Tiger 10.4.11. The box states:

- Mac with an Intel or PowerPC G4 Processor
- 256 MB of RAM
- CD-ROM Drive
- Mac OS X 10.2 or later

After spending several hours attempting to install this on Christmas day, I finally got through to Nova Development Technical support on Friday. After waiting on hold for over an hour, I got a tech support rep who kept insisting that I "go to the Start menu" and "click on Windows explorer" instead of using Macintosh troubleshooting techniques. I called back on Monday and spoke to a tech who explained that their software wouldn't work on Leopard. I have an old machine running Tiger, so we attempted to install it there - with no luck. He checked their knowledge base and determined that Sesame Street Preschool doesn't work with updated versions of Tiger.

He told me that he'd take my e-mail and would send me a notice when an update was available, although he had no idea when that might be ready. I stated that it wasn't an acceptable solution and pointed out the box was clearly mislabeled and that I did my research before buying. I received an e-mail for a RMA and hopefully will receive my money back.

So Mac users beware - Nova Development obviously treats us as an afterthought.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK, not very interesting
Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2009
This is OK. There aren't many interesting games in it and my preschooler (just turned 4) isn't that interested. It seems like it isn't very user-friendly and the games just aren't very fun. Plus there's a segment on TV clips. She really doesn't want to watch those. Anyway, I was disappointed and wish I spent the money on a different game instead. We got the "Learning with Nemo" game at the same time and that one is great. This game isn't used much.

My 3-year old girl plays with this software just about everyday. After I showed her the basics, she quickly figured everything out. Great learning software for pre-schoolers.

My 3 year old, with very little computer experience, was able to sit down for 25 minutes after spending 5 min with me helping him learn to use the mousepad and how to click the enter button. He loves it!!! Very educational and simple for little guys. I highly recommend this game!!!!

Although this item states it is for PC and Mac, it does NOT work on any Mac with a current OS (Lion and on). It requires PowerPC/Rosetta, which has not been suported on any Mac OS for over 3 years. Very disappointing!
