I bought this as a refurb and we've been really happy with it. Our current living room setup just doesn't really allow for speaker wires so I put the 7.1 setup away and switched to the soundbar with these for 5.1. Surround is what it should be - we usually keep it on DTS so we don't get back channel when it's not needed and have the back levels in the middle.
Other reviewers have complained that the rear channel is too quiet; I can only assume they don't understand what surround is supposed to be. In fact, if you raise the rear above middle (to +1) it's too much, and it goes all the way to +5!
In the right setup this is a very acceptable alternative to a traditional home theater system and at less than half the cost.
