5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this kit! Especially, since it's reusable! Perfect for baby shower gift!

Reason I bought it:
I wanted to do a cute memento of my baby. The shapes fit my 3 week old hands and both feet. I am not sure how much longer I can fit them for my baby but I plan on using the stencils again. I might have to make an image with the baby's thumb prints like bear ears and paint a bear when the baby is bigger. I love the alphabet letters it comes with they work really well.

Pros:
-Easy to use
-Cute molds
-Reusable
-Very cheap but great quality kit

Cons:
-Takes two people to make a good print (See tip below)
-Can be hard to redo if you take too long (Not products fault since that's what air dry clay does. Just user error)

Tip:
-The clay dries quickly so get your baby in your arms and have someone else prep the molds. Plus have some oil on hand preemptively if it starts to dry. We had to scramble to find oil to reset one mold that didn't turn out correctly the first go and it was already starting to crack. Then the baby started fussing because we took too long to reset the mold.

Overall:
Great product to do as a couple and also for owners of pets. Although, I didn't use it for my dog/cats I can see this being very cute to do as well; especially for older dogs/cats as a keepsake. I wish I did this before one of my cats passed away. As I am usually the artistic one, my spouse loved how easy this was to make and really enjoyed the end result. I highly recommend this as a baby shower gift and wish that my family gave it to me instead of the piles of clothes my baby outgrew in a week!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and Fun Craft

It was an overall straightforward process, and I had fun making ornaments to surprise my boyfriend! Won't include pictures cause they have our address, but I am glad they included letter stamps. Made writing SO much easier! It comes in a pack of two, so we also made an ornament for our dog. It took about a week for the ornaments to fully dry (had to place them in my desk drawer to hide them since they're a surprise, I'm sure they'd dry quicker if out in sunlight). Now we'll have homemade decorations to put on the tree this year, yay!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super easy

The instructions were easy to follow and the clay was super easy to work with. It is a little sticky at first, but just keep kneading it and it works great. Best thing is you can roll it back up and do it again if it doesn’t work the first time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Real clay, not weird foam
Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2024
I’d bought another kit like this only to realize it wasn’t real clay, but some weird foam. I was worried the foam wouldn’t last, so I bought this kit looking for real clay. This kit is real clay, and my finished products feel very substantial. I do like the letter stamps and ribbons from the other kit better. This clay takes several days to dry, you have to leave it in the mold while it dries (so I couldn’t do 2 circles at once), and you can’t actually leave it on the provided paper like it says or the back won’t dry. I left mine in the mold and on the paper till the front and sides felt dry, then I removed it from the paper/ mold and put it on a drying rack. The finished product looks nice. I don’t plan to paint mine, but it’s nice they included little paints and brushes. Be careful of getting any imperfections in the wet clay, since it shrinks as it dries and the marks become more noticeable (just a few dings from my long nails trying to get the letter stamps out, haha).

This is an easy to use kit that comes with everything you need to make a very nice keepsake. I used it for my furbaby's paw print before I had to say goodbye.

First Day: Easy Instructions, went as planned. I'm surprised I got my 3 month old to do the handprint. I love it. I plan to use as a keepsake and possibly put the other up as decoration.

3.0 out of 5 stars Results did not look like packaging

This is a decent kit that will give you an nice impression to keep. Unlike the packaging photos, I certainly can’t see fine details like finger wrinkles. You need to push down really hard to get any kind of indent. But push too hard, and the clay material will be pushed out over the rim.

I used this today for my 11-month old on his monthly birthday. The kit has been sitting in a shelf for 7 months until I finally had to use it before he got too big. I opened the package and discovered the foil clay packages were covered in an oily substance. I imagine the clay components had separated after sitting around for months. It was gross, but I kneaded the clay and it seemed fine. I was very sad that his foot is now too big, but his hand just fits. I hope they will last, as the clay was a bit old.

I don’t really know what age is best for this kit, but I would guess under 9 months. Getting a good hand impression is extremely difficult, as I’ve made other projects with my son. Newborns hold their hands in fists for weeks, and as the baby get older, he will resist you trying to extend his arm and place his hand flat on a surface. The feet are much easier. But you have to press so hard with this clay. If you get this kit, I would plan to use it within a few months so the clay is fresh. I would also advise not trying to get an impression as perfect-looking as the packaging photos. I’m just happy my son cooperated, despite digging three of his fingers into the clay.
