About this item

Full Manual Telephoto Lens: 420-800mm telephoto lens, no adapter ring required, 2 seconds fast lens mounting. After installing the lens, you need to perform a full manual focus operation on a digital SLR camera: 1. Adjust to M mode for use. 2. Twist the lens focus ring to focus, and adjust the ISO and shutter speed. (Lens aperture is not adjustable, it changes with the focal length). Using a manual lens gives you complete creative control over your images and provides unrivaled creative expression and versatility;
EF Lens for Canon: EF telephoto lens is perfect for photographing elusive wildlife, birds, the moon and other distant landscapes and small objects, bringing you closer to your subject to unprecedented distances. EF lens for Canon EOS Rebel T8i T7 T7i T6 T6s T6i T5 T5i T4i T3i T3 T2i T1i SL3 SL2 XSi; EOS 10D 20D 30D 40D 50D 60D 70D 80D 90D 100D 200D 250D 300D 350D 400D 450D 500D 550D 600D 650D 700D 750D 800D 850D 1000D 1100D 1200D 1300D 1500D 2000D 3000D 4000D 9000D/77D 760D/8000D 1D X Mark III/II/1DX, 5D Mark IV/III/5DS/5DS R, 6D Mark II/6D, 7D Mark II and other ef camera;
Attention to Image Stabilization: The telephoto lens has no auto focus and image stabilization, slight camera shake will greatly affect the image quality, it is recommended to use time-lapse shooting, tripod or shutter release cable to stabilize the image and take beautiful pictures. Manual focus telephoto zoom lens is recommended for professional photographers, suitable for digital SLR cameras, not for mirrorless cameras;
Resolving Overbright/dark Tips: You can start by focusing and metering at a position determined as the exposure reference using a long focal length, then locking the exposure and then changing the focal length to take the picture. If the photo is too dark, you can remedy the situation by the following methods:1) Reducing the shutter speed from 1/500 sec. to 1/100 sec, or slower, such as 1/50 sec, 2) Increasing the ISO value from ISO 100 to ISO 200/400/800, etc, 3) Switching the position so that more ambient light enters the camera's imaging sensor through the lens;
Warm Tips: 1) Lens Not support for Canon EOS R, Ra, RP, R3, R5, R5 C, R6, R6 Mark II, R7, R8, R10, R50, R100 | EOS M, M3, M5, M6, M6 mark II, M10, M50, M100, M200. 2) Not suitable for sports photography. 3) Avoid as much as possible prolonged exposure of the lens to windy sand and the presence of large amounts of dust in the environment.Prolonged contact with humid air can cause mold to form on the lenses, which may affect their use. If the ambient humidity is high, the use of a drying box is recommended.

...but not perfect. But for what you pay, this is a decent telephoto lens. Definitely use it with a tripod for stability of the shot, or some sort of flat surface rather than trying to hold it steady. It's manual so be sure to set your camera to a manual setting for the lens. Aside from those caveats, it's not terrible. Once you get used to how to focus, it makes for some nice photographs.

I am not a photographer, I am not even a very good at taking pictures with my iphone. My assessment is from a very novice nontechnical perspective.

It did not look like a lens that I see in the stores, it looked more like a toy, it did fit on my rebel 5 canon very nicely without any problems. The instructions were minimal but to put it on "manual mode" was helpful.

There is no stabilization, so a tripod or flat top is important. The focus tubes does tell you which way to turn for focusing, but it seem to stick a little when turning to focus, which knocks the tripod around a little, so you have to refocus again, not as easy as I needed.

I had a very hard time focusing the lens, through the view finder it looked clear, but when I went to look at my pictures none of them are in focus. To frame a picture, I could get a small area focused but not the branches next to each other were not in focus. The colors did come out nicely in pictures.

If you know how to use the camera with all the settings and the lens, you might have better results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Considering the Price Point This Lens Did OK

A telephoto lens for under $100? I thought this was a misprint, but took a chance to try it. I’m a Vine Reviewer so I get to try products regularly, and since I’m passionate about photography, I figured I had nothing to lose. I must say I’m rather surprised at how the lens performed.

As far as build quality, it is not top of the line, but that’s expected given the price point. However, the build is not terrible either. When focusing the lens, the focus ring does fine. You need to pick a point and focus. You won’t get everything in focus. If you need multiple areas in focus, try focus stacking in post production. Visually, the lens looks nice; it mounted and dismounted fine; and the focal length and focal ring moved fine.

When I was testing the lens I used a tripod and remote shutter control. I did focus using the screen which helps (a field monitor would have been better). You will need to bump up your ISO and slow your shutter speed (this is a long tube to get light through). I still got a little noise which I cleared up in post production. I had trouble getting tack sharp images, but there again, post production helps with this somewhat.

The day I took photos for this review it was overcast and the rain was coming. I needed to get out of the woods as I remembered reading that this lens does not like humidity. My subject matter (a pipe in a pond) was all I could find that was along the way, but it gave me some images for comparison.

I will use the lens again, but I don’t anticipate stellar images. I see this as more of a practice lens that maybe I’ll get a few images here and there that I like. Every couple days I go out into the woods or the studio with a piece of equipment I typically don’t use just to push my abilities and creativity. My favorite better lenses and cameras make me lazy with all the auto features and tracking. Manual lenses make me think and force creativity and new ideas.

I had ordered this before but it was damaged in transit so I had to cancel. Just 2 days later this arrived and my photography has never been the same. The reason it's less expensive it that it's totally manual. That means focus and zoom. It really takes me back to my 35mm SLR days. You definitely need to use a tripod and the shutter timer or remote.
