5.0 out of 5 stars This is an amazing product!

I needed to scan 200 slides for a photo book. Aftern discovering that my Canon slide scanner was not supported by Canon anymore, I was in a bind. I orded thie slide scanner as a quick, cheap alternative.

I was blown away by how well the KLIM K2 Mobile Film Scanner worked. I created three 70-page photo books for my family and they look great.

The scanner is easy to use and I could edit the slides for brightness, contract, etc. as I scanned each slide.

This might not be great for professional photographers, but it was perfect for me. I can't say enough about this product.

It's a fantastic value!

I would have loved it if it held the negatives tighter and flatter, and maybe had a wheel to advance them rather than just manually pushing them through. It's a little hard to get negatives in focus if they are old and have curled a bit since it doesn't hold them tight enough to flatten them completely. But all in all, it worked well enough to get the photos digitized.

The resolution doesn't come out as good as if you're having them professionally scanned, and the colours are off because you're relying on your phone and the amount of darkness you can reach in your home environment. But it does the job pretty well considering how inexpensive it is. It feels sturdy and is easy to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective film scanner but requires photo editing for best results
Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2024
I ordered this scanner for a second shot at my pre-digital 35mm negatives. The scanner is plastic but sturdy, is easy to assemble (2 AA batteries included), and is easy to use. Negatives slide between gates over the light source, and your cell phone overhangs a shelf with camera lens exposed. My cell phone focused automatically (without macro) and I used the cell phone zoom function to fit the negative image to the cell phone screen. Once set up, scanning successive negative images is a "slide and shoot" fast function.

It's not a scanning function, but photo editing improves the end results. I used (not included but affordable) Corel PaintShop Pro desktop PC software for cropping, conversion to positive, correcting old film color shift, and photo enhancement. The two attached photos are (nominally 1900 pixel by 2800 pixel) scans of 35 year old color negatives. The edited scans print well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, but scanned colors are NOT same as original

Scanner is sturdy and operation is simple. Colors of scanned photos are NOT the same. See attached photos. Customer service was great. When I contacted about problem with change is colors, they promptly refunded the money and let me keep the scanner. I would suggest to change the orientation of the placement of camera on the platform. That way it will be better to handle.
If anyone has suggestion(s) on colors to be same as original, please post here how to do it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Film Scanner with better than expected results for the cost.
Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2023
The KLIM K2 Film Scanner arrived in a black and silver box packaged like a high-end product. My first impression was to verify I received the correct product.

Once unwrapped and batteries inserted (batteries included), I turned on the power and note that if in a low light room, the light is extremely bright. After snapping the top to the base, the scanner was ready to go. Simple two-piece scanner, foldable and made of durable plastic with rubber mat to keep cell phone in position. The bottom of scanner has a semi rubber base to keep from sliding of the work area. Downloaded the Kodak app as suggested and ready to go.

The instructions say to turn the scanner on and then insert film. I found it difficult to insert the film strip with the light blinding me. Inserting the film first then turning the scanner on worked out better. Once I aligned the cell phone which is not a new phone S10Plus. I was able to align the cellphone and use the screen to enlarge the photo to fit the area. Before saving I played with the settings to see what enhanced the photo quality since the negatives were extremely old (around 40 years old). To my amazement the photos turned out better than expected. I thought I had lost these memories forever.

It takes time to scan each negative one by one, but everyone wants big $ to scan them digitally and the possibility of losing them in the mail is worth the time. The scanner doesn't actually scan but reflects the image so that your cell phone camera captures the picture. I have purchased a few other converters that used the computer or very bulky. I found them to be very complicated and frustrating. They KLIM K2 scanner is small and portable which I take back and forth where ever I go. No electrical cords or wires to plug in. I didn't have any real issues with pixilation since I don't plan on making giant reprints. For such a simple well-made scanner it is amazing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Garbage

This is the worst film scanner you can buy in Amazon, which already has a really low bar.
Will not work with iPhone minimum focal length on any of the cameras.
The app is even worst than the scanner. It can only convert pictures taken in the app instead of using photos taken on the native camera app. The negative conversion is surprisingly decent, but you’re going to end up with really terrible scans regardless.
