5.0 out of 5 stars Works Wonderfully!

These are easy to bait, easy to set, and easy to release the catch (without touching it). I put these in the drawer where there was evidence of infestation. Within 36 hours I had 2 dead mice! Somehow these fellas managed to escape a grueling death by my cat, but not these traps. I hope there were only 2, but just in case I reset the traps. Easiest traps I've ever used.

5.0 out of 5 stars There are two things you need to know about this product.
Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2024
The first one is that it works, and it works well. I have been using this, off and on, for a couple of weeks and have already eliminated 6-7 mice from my garage. It is very effective. I have followed the instructions carefully and produced great results. I have even been able to re-use the traps though one of its features is that you can set it, trap a mouse, and then just toss the trap and captured dead mouse out. It works by using a very effective "jaw" device with a strong spring and trigger and when the mouse sticks its head into the bait area he's then a goner. Dead on arrival. The other thing you need to know is that the reason it works so well, or the major reason IMO, is that the trigger mechanism is very, very sensitive. It's a little tricky to set it, and then once the trap is in place the jaws will snap at the slightest disturbance. That's great if you are trying to catch mice but maybe not so great if you aren't careful. You could easily ensnare yourself if you are not paying attention to this. So be deliberate and thoughtful as you set the jaw because if you aren't then you could end up getting a finger or two trapped in the jaw and I know of a few mice who would tell you that you don't want that to happen.

Spoiler alert: Roasted and salted almonds from costco
Two mice and nothing has worked. About to buy a bucket trap like we used on our family's ranch way back when but bought these on a recommendation, still no go. Classic peanut butter got nothing. Organic peanut butter, nothing. Nutella, soda crackers, cashews, pistachios: nope nope nothing. About to give up I saw I had a container of roasted almonds I had bought on a whim, never really cared for them before. Set the trap laid the bait and sure enough, not even half an hour later, SNAP. Reset, replaced, two days later, SNAP. They always did Tom dirty, but Jerry deserves it, I can not tell you how satisfying that was. It's been a month and NO MORE MICE.
The only caveat is that these traps don't last. There are two plastic pins that hinge the latch in place and under very heavy load from the spring. One trap caught two mice and after being reset and left for a few days one of the plastic pins broke. I can only assume having mice stuck in the traps for several hours under uneven spring tension caused deformation that weakened the joint leading to eventual failure. I have another trap set up which did not catch any mice and it's been perfectly fine for a month. HOWEVER, I still gave this five stars, worked better than any trap I've used and even if it was single use, it's worth every penny.

4 Traps = 4 Mice @ 1st Night = Success!!
Bated traps with Cheddar Cheese & Wild Bird Seed Nut.
Easy to Set. Easy to Open/Dispose of Mouse. Cleaned traps in bucket with dish soap & reset.
Recommend these traps over old-style mouse traps. Easier to set safely, place & reuse.

4.0 out of 5 stars Less durable, costs more

These work well and used to be reasonably priced. The ones I purchased a few years ago could be used at least a half dozen times but the newest only last one or two times. The catch that holds the trap open seems to be a weaker plastic that easily breaks. And now, the price has gone way up. Either Tomcat has a supply chain problem or someone has decided to extract as much revenue as possible from this product. Either way, I'm forced to go to a different manufacturer. Sad.

We tried the old fashioned wooden traps and another kind but nothing worked to catch the mouse that was eating the bird food from our outside window feeder. Although our cats were certainly entertained. When we tried this one, it was so easy to use and I didn't have to worry about getting my fingers snapped. This one did the trick of course, first time. I would use these above any other the next time.

I bought 6 mouse traps.
Put peanut butter in each trap, set the traps put 4 traps in different places throughout the house and 2 in our storage shed. The next day I had 1 mouse in each trap. Unbelievable!
I couldn't believe my eyes. Hopefully that took care of our mouse problem in the house. These Mouse Traps are amazing they do there job!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works quite well for a time

I found the Tom Cat Mouse Trap to work quite well the first few times I used it, but every one of them stopped working after about two times I trapped mice. Then it appeared to be set, and the mice ate the peanut butter, but the trap didn't go off. What I did like about it those first times was that I could easily set it without fear of having it clamp down on my own hand.
