Like Creator 6 much better than the newer versions. Newer versions are more complicated and the label disk do not fit as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars only the original version ever worked for me.

when I got my 1st computer ( a gateway millineum or ME ) I installed the very 1st roxio program I ever found which was roxio platinum version 5 and it worked pretty darn good. I liked it because in the package it had a simple program for converting analog vinyl LP's to digital mp's to wav files. I ran the crap outta the little ME and tried converting as many of my old vinyl collection to CD's as I could but in time the ME was shot. ( they werent very popular but for my 1st pc I didnt know the diference ) and those cd's still are playing better than ones I burned 6 or 7 years later. you could select the bit rate which you wanted and burn them nice and slow which seemed to get rid of the skipping problem . I really liked it because it was so simple to use... but then a few years later I bought roxio's ez cd and dvd creator rogram for like 26$ and it would not work on ANY of my machines and I couldnt get any decent customer service. it kept saying that I needed to insert the key # in order to keep using the trial version I had installed ?? WTF. I bought the full version and entered the key to activate on install. I dont think I ever got one dvd or cd made with that software ( maybe one or 2 ) and soon switched to another brand software which Ive been using to this day.

I wouldnt recomend ANY of ROXIO'S products to anyone at this point. I dont know how or why but it seemed like the 1st time they got it right but the more features and stuf they added to it the worse off their products became. I wish I could find another simple vinyl to mp3 converter to install on my now outdated windows xp3.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware the updates
Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2004
I've had better luck than the other reviewers, however I agree it acts like a beta version. After installing the program I was prompted to "update" the program suite. The update was over 39 mb! After loading a subsequent "update", I was prompted to restart my computer 4 times! Each time the computer would come up, I'd be prompted to restart again for the for the Roxio update to take effect.
Overall, the program is much easier to use than the prior version, in my opinion. I am especially pleased with the buffer underrun protection which was an issue with the 2 prior versions.

I have found this item to be more than I expected. It has features that I hadn't expected to be part of the program, but am happy they're there.
I would shop on Amazon.com any time as I have always been satisfied with my purchases.

1.0 out of 5 stars OK product, shame about the support
Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2008
I don't suppose many people will be buying this product as there are four later versions. Just in case you are tempted by the cheap price, I offer some some words of warning.

Generally speaking I have had few problems with the software. Sure it has its bugs, but for my purposes it is generally quite adequate. I am fortunate that I didn't experience the grave problems that others describe here. The Disc Copier function, as its name suggests, allows you to burn entire discs without inserting gaps between tracks. This is essential for classical music where tracks are often cue points rather than separate entities. There is a facility called Audio Central you can use to make compilation albums, and this facility can also be used to transfer material from cassette or LP to CD. Despite the bugs I'd have given this product 4 or 5 stars were it not for Roxio's attitude to their customers.

Not long after I bought the product Microsoft issued XP Service Pack 2. Following installation of the latter, I found that certain modes of burning CDs with Creator 6 left me with a pile of coasters. I made umpteen requests for help and each time received generic, computer-generated answers which were of no help at all. You know the sort of thing - reinstall the product, turn off virus protection etc. I'm not Bill Gates but even I figured out the problem relatively quickly - XP SP2 uses a lot more resources, which led to a buffer underrun and copying being aborted.

Worse still is that Roxio no longer offer support for this product. I discovered this when all of a sudden using the auto-update facility generated a Windows error message. Now, there haven't been any updates for some time and I wasn't particularly expecting any, despite there being several minor but annoying bugs. I contacted support to confirm my suspicions that the internet location the updater links to has moved or closed. A simple question, surely. The reply was another generic email, telling me that basically Roxio are no longer prepared to discuss older products, and that if I want support I'll have to shell out for another version.

I took the matter up on the Roxio forum and with in minutes received sarcastic replies from the forum's resident "digital gurus" (employees of Roxio, presumably). Despite explaining that all I wanted was a simple answer to a simple question, I was berated for daring to hang on to a four-year-old product, rather than spending more and more money buying new products in the hope that this time the bugs have gone.

Bottom line: if you just want to copy CDs for car use this product isn't too bad. Beware though, there are quite a few bugs and you won't get any help if you ask about them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Permanently destroys drive configuration
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2003
I got Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 bundled with a DVD+/-RW drive. Needless to say, I was eager to get burning. I've used Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 for 1.5 years and have been very happy. But, that's neither here nor there. I'll cut to the chase.
After installing, I found that all of my hard drives and partitions had been assigned new drive letters, seemingly at random. Furthermore, in Disk Management, most partitions didn't show a letter and those that did show a letter, appeared twice in Windows Explorer. Windows was notifying me that \System Volume Information\tracking.log was corrupt and that I needed to run chkdsk. To make matters worse, Windows no longer identified my system boot drive with the "(System)" designation, meaning I could delete the partition if I wanted!
Uninstalling did not resolve this, so I backed up all my data to an external disk. I then performed a fresh install of Windows XP. I then installed Service Pack 1 and all critical updates. I also installed DirectX 9.0b and Windows Media Player 9. After that, I installed Office XP, followed by Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.
I rebooted, and found the exact same problem. Clearly there is some serious problem with this software. I'm going back to version 5.
For kicks, since I knew I'd need to reinstall XP again, I tried to delete the system partition. It let me.
