5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Streaming, Bad for Steam
Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2024
At $190, this laptop was a total steal. The 2k screen looks great, backlit keyboard is nice, and it charges 50% per hour give or take. I have not used it heavily, but expect the battery should last around 10 hours under moderate use, more than enough for my needs. Setting it up was a cinch, by scanning a QR code with my phone. It boots in <5s, and runs fast for browsing/streaming. I bought a USB C hub with HDMI to run an external monitor, which works fine. Steaming Call of Duty Black Ops 6 via Steam also tested out ok. While Amazon says this is renewed, there's no sign of wear or use, it looks brand new.

I was surprised I could actually install Steam on this, via browser (NOT the Google Play store's version). Rocket League runs locally, but "run" is a generous word when its <20fps at lowest settings. Terraria works fine, but I would not say this PC is capable to play local games. With those two games installed, I have about 40GB left of free space, it started with about 75GB free. This laptop is better served for browsing the internet, Google Docs, and streaming videos/games, but that's exactly what I was looking for. No complaints.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good ????????
Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2024
I like that it doesn’t overheat in the lap like my old gram laptop and I like that it has a 2.5k resolution and seems pretty responsive. No drawbacks I’ve noticed yet I was gonna wait 6 months to see how it withstands the test of time lol but I’ll just edit this review with an update but so far great quality for a great price!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Chromebook unfortunately has WIFI Issues
Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2024
I purchased this unit and really enjoyed it. Even though it was bigger than i normally use, i was going to keep it anyway but unfortunately relentless wifi issues made me return it. Constant disconnects from anything requiring a reliable connection. Amazon luna constantly kicked me out, geforce now and xcloud both had constant disconnects. I couldnt get through a 20 minute zoom meeting without a dozen reconnects. I have other devices, including chromebooks that dont have any issues with my internet. Being a chromebook means i cant swap for another wifi chip leaving me to return. Perhaps it was only my unit but truly unfortunate.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective wifi hardware
Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024
Like a previous review says, very bad wifi issues, constantly drops connection, especially if connected to 5ghz. At 2.4ghz connection you will get 1 mbps if you are lucky. Tried everything in terms of troubleshooting so it is definitely a hardware defect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Chromebook for Linux development!
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2024
I've preferred Chromebooks for Linux software development for the last few years (vs buying a Windows laptop and dual booting). I really love the screen on this -- can work on two docs side by side, nice clear text in native resolution, and the keyboard is nice. I returned a similar Acer 'gaming' Chromebook that should have been a bit faster, but the keyboard was inadequate and one key kept falling off (other than that, both of these refurbished machines were in excellent condition as promised).
I hope the Linux virtual machine continues to be supported on Chromebooks. I usually just buy Asus, and still have a decent flip with a good 15 inch screen, but that machine is shutting down randomly -- I should probably wipe with a factory reset but that's a chore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very well rounded laptop

Affordable and still fast on chromeOS. I have a couple of peeves with the OS which is why I docked a star. By terms of hardware, it's plenty for school and work, and it's in pretty much new quality for being refurbished.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Chromebook I've owned
Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2024
The screen on this is gorgeous, very fast and the backlit keyboard is great in low light environments. The aluminum case is a big plus for durability. This also is a Chromebook Plus which gets you 10 years of updates. Very happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Chromebook, very fast, dependable, my favorite laptop!

My experience so far is great!!! I am not a gamer, although I like the games it offers, great resolution, I can run linux, visual studio and more. The GoogleOS is incredible ...
I have sold computers since the 1980's, done large installations and written major programs, from the S100 bus system, Unix, MS, Linux, Apple and now ChromeOS.
The simplicity, power and speed of the Chromebook laptops is refreshing!
