I've been using the green Apple Watch Series 7 for several months now, having upgraded from the Series 5, and here are my thoughts:
Design & Display:
- The Series 7 boasts a larger display due to thinner bezels. This makes for an enhanced viewing experience, especially noticeable when reading notifications or using apps. The screen's brightness in always-on mode has been significantly improved, making it easier to glance at the time or notifications without raising your wrist.
Performance:
- Performance-wise, it's very similar to the Series 6. If you're coming from an older model like Series 3 or 5, you'll notice the speed difference, but for Series 6 owners, there's not much new here in terms of processing power.
Features:
- The QWERTY keyboard on the watch is a nice addition. While it's not something I use often, it's handy for quick replies without pulling out my phone. The watch also continues to offer robust health features like ECG, blood oxygen monitoring, and sleep tracking, which are all accurate and useful, though not new for this model.
Overall:
- If you're new to Apple Watch or coming from a much older model, the Series 7 is a fantastic choice. The larger display, faster charging, and improved always-on visibility are real quality-of-life improvements. However, for those with a Series 6, the upgrade might not feel as significant unless you're particularly keen on the larger screen or faster charging.
- The design and build quality remain top-notch, and integration with other Apple products is seamless as ever.
The Apple Watch Series 7 maintains Apple's high standards in smartwatch technology. It's not a revolutionary update, but it's certainly a refinement that keeps Apple at the forefront of wearables.
