I received this item the next day, the shipping was very fast. The box had some weight to it, I was expecting a cheaply made plastic cryptex - Man this thing is brass and very very well made. It opens perfectly and even has a couple fun little surprises inside. It's well packaged with an elegant well designed case . Very happy to have purchased this for my kiddo

A gift for a sibling who shares my love of puzzles and games. I haven't given it to her yet so I can't comment on functionality. But, it is not a light-weight little toy. It has a nice heft to it. It comes snuggled and protected in sturdy box where it is fitted into the center where it will not rattle around. It is made of good materials and is quite attractive.
I think anyone over the age of 10 or 12 would like this. It doesn't feel like a toy. It feels like a well made, intriguing puzzle. I love it and I know my sister will, too. And we are both old enough to be retired.

The Cryptex Da Vinci Code Lock Puzzle Box is a delightful surprise for puzzle lovers and fans of the Da Vinci Code alike. This cleverly designed box will put your problem-solving skills to the test as you try to figure out the combination to unlock the secret compartment, and that in itself lends mystique to the giftability of the item. I let my fiancé wrack her brain, trying to guess the code while dropping red herrings each day to encourage her to interact with it throughout the week prior to our anniversary with a promise of revealing the code on the day of if she hadn't solved it yet. It made for a fantastic and romantic reveal after a night out. The build quality is top-notch, with a solid construction that feels weighty and well-made in your hands (not like those flimsy puzzle boxes that feel like they'll fall apart if you look at them wrong).

But the real highlight of these boxes is the two high quality rings that are hidden inside. They are a fantastic bonus and a wonderful surprise that elevates these puzzle boxes to a whole new level. The attention to detail is impressive, with intricate designs and a nice weight to the rings that make them feel special and unique. It's like finding a treasure within a treasure (and who doesn't love that?)

This thing is very heavy and accurate for the price. It reminds me of the beginning of Jurassic Park when the kids pick up some night vision goggles and ask for permission and the lawyer says "Are they heavy? Then they're expensive, put them back." I was surprised when I opened the package. This is a durable good-quality codex that comes with unmentioned tools for resetting the code. It also came with superglue, which was not mentioned in the instructions. I'll use that for something else.

I really like this cryptex. I was pleasantly surprised by the heft and durability. This is not a flimsy piece that could be easily broken into (at least that is the initial appearance). The mechanism works reasonably well, and is well enough made that it is not easily cracked by the usual means (tension and turning rings till you feel the click). I did not expect this to be a high security vault, but I was pleasantly surprised that it is (could be) more secure than I expected. As described, changing the code is easy, and all tools are provided, and the presentation box is nice.

I do have a few complaints, though.

First, the letter rings are free-floating, which means that as you turn one, it is easy to also turn the ones next to it. This can make it frustrating to get everything lined-up to be able to open it. This could make it nearly impossible for someone with low dexterity or a disability. Making the rings snap into position wouldn't have been that hard, although it would add a little more cost.

Second, It is not what I would call "fine-tuned". The operation is rough at times. The pieces appear to be castings, which is good, but castings need to be finished, which was done just enough to make it functional, but you can see the lines where the parts of the mold came together, and they are a little rough, sometimes rough enough to make parts stick a little. Maybe my expectations are higher than most as I do little metalworking, so I know how easily it could have been made better.

Maybe the rings were left free to spin and it was left intentionally rough to make it seem like it is an older, cruder piece, but craftspeople of such a piece throughout history would typically have paid attention to these details. Simpler and cruder doesn't always mean older, in fact it usually means that it is more modern and done to cut costs.

Third, it turns out that there is a really easy way to get in without knowing the code: just unscrew one end cap and take out a couple screws that are revealed. Mine came off by accident, but when I tried to tighten it back on, it easily stripped the threads instead of tightening, but that is easily fixed with some superglue, which should have been applied during assembly.

I bought this to give wedding anniversary gifts in. Since 19 is bronze, and this is metal and has a bronze look, it seemed perfect.

This is a very well-made product, though one of the 'tumblers' (spinning rings that are part of the 'combination') was a bit sticky, and one was a bit too loose, overall for the price it's excellent quality.

I really liked the included rings (they're decent enough quality; they look nice. I certainly hope the inscriptions really say what the are labeled as, given I don't speak/write/read Elvish ;) ).

It's packaged really well, and I am definitely impressed with this product.
