About this item

“This is officially my favorite holiday romance. I loved every single minute of it, and wished it never had to endThe epitome of the Christmas RomanceI cannot recommend this book enough.” Marensreads ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

She’s meant to be catching flights, not catching feelings…

Molly and Andrew are just trying to get home to Ireland for the holidays, when a freak snowstorm grounds their flight.

Nothing romantic has ever happened between them: they’re friends and that’s all. But once a year, for the last ten years, Molly has spent seven hours and fifteen minutes sitting next to Andrew on the last flight before Christmas from Chicago to Dublin, drinking terrible airplane wine and catching up on each other’s lives. In spite of all the ways the two friends are different, it’s the holiday tradition neither of them has ever wanted to give up.

Molly isn’t that bothered by Christmas, but—in yet another way they’re total opposites—Andrew is a full-on fanatic for the festive season and she knows how much getting back to Ireland means to him. So, instead of doing the sane thing and just celebrating the holidays together in America, she does the stupid thing. The irrational thing.
She vows to get him home. And in time for his mam’s famous Christmas dinner.

The clock is ticking. But Molly always has a plan. And—as long as the highly-specific combination of taxis, planes, boats, and trains all run on time—it can’t possibly go wrong.

What she doesn’t know is that, as the snow falls over the city and over the heads of two friends who are sure they’re not meant to be together, the universe might just have a plan of its own…

A totally gorgeous and escapist friends-to-lovers festive romance with a swoon-worthy hero. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Mhairi McFarlane, and Christina Lauren.

3.5 stars. I greatly enjoyed the storyline. It is funny at times and is completely adorable the whole time. The characters are likeable, and it's a light read. It's not spicy, but some lustful moments. I was bored at times and felt the story dragged on halfway through. I almost dnf because I got tired of the redundancy, but it redeemed itself. The ending wasn't spectacular, but it was pleasant. This is definitely a Hallmark-like book.

"I'm in love with you and I'm sorry
it took me so long to figure it out. I'm sorry I
wasted so many years trying to find someone
else, when the only one I wanted was you."

"Because I know in my soul there will only
be him. There's only ever been him."

Very sweet holiday romance. If you are looking for something spicy, this is not it. If you’re looking for a drawn out slow burn friends to lovers? This is it.

The story was really great. Theres something magical about meeting people on planes- especially when it becomes annually. I really loved this story even though it was all sweet no spice. It was unexpected and really sweet.

Solid holiday romance with a fun plot. Definitely worth the read for the holiday season. The humor is great. I laughed several times just because of the teasing banter between friends.

    Classic holiday RomCom.

    Happy Reading Friends xx

HOLIDAY ROMANCE (Fitzpatrick Christmas Book #1) by Catherine Walsh is a charming, heart-warming holiday rom/com featuring friends in Chicago, who meet every year at the airport for years to fly home to Ireland for the Christmas holiday to be with their respective families, but this tenth year will change everything. This is the first book in this series, and I cannot wait for more.

Molly Kinsella, who cannot be bothered with Christmas cheer and Andrew Fitzpatrick, who is all in for everything Christmas, have become close friends as they meet each year to fly home to Ireland together. They catch up on their extended families and personal lives on the trip each year, but as they wait for their ten-year anniversary flight a stormfront moves in and all planes across the Atlantic are cancelled. Molly knows what Christmas with family means to Andrew and vows to get him home.

Molly and Andrew begin an epic trip with the only goal of being home for Christmas dinner, but this journey from hell may have these friends admitting more to each other than ever before.

This is one of those holiday rom/coms that leave you with all the warm and fuzzies. Molly and Andrew are opposites and yet perfect together. She is a pessimist and over worked lawyer who hates her job, while he is easygoing and a family and event photographer. The two of them together have a believable relationship with a dialogue that is snappy and snarky. There is one sex scene, but it is short and not gratuitous. I love how the author has the two in the present day interspersed with flashbacks of their previous nine flights. All the family members of both Molly and Andrew are well developed and add to the fun holiday family feel. This story had me rooting for Molly and Andrew all the way on their terrible, but wonderful journey.

I highly recommend this enchanting holiday rom/com!

Enjoyable. Entertaining. The two main characters were fun and the banter perfect. And their families even added more fun to the mix. I loved that this book held no “drama” and that it spoke to traditional families. Perfect for the Christmas season

A cute holiday story. Their travel plans go from bad to worse, until it doesn’t. Fun and witty banter between the main characters. Easily 4.5 stars.

I was nervous about this book because typically Christmas books are very “holiday-esque” and predictable, and a tad hallmark-y. But this book had me HOOKED. I was obsessed with it and loved every minute of reading it. So cute, so FUNNY, so precious & festive. Just absolutely adored it.

While romance isn't typically my genre of choice, I'm grateful that this book was chosen by my book club. This holiday romantic comedy was quite amusing. Those who have experienced the challenges of holiday travel will undoubtedly relate to Andrew and Molly's situation. This friends-to-lovers tale is skillfully paced and kept me laughing while putting me in the holiday spirit.
